A Favor for the Patriarch

In Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Ichiban Kasuga, a low-ranking yakuza, serves an 18-year prison sentence for a crime he didn't commit. Upon his release, he discovers his clan has betrayed him, leaving him with nothing. This betrayal fuels his quest to uncover a massive conspiracy within the Yakuza, forming the core of the game's narrative.

The game introduces a significant gameplay change with its turn-based combat system, inspired by classic Japanese role-playing games. This system allows for extensive character customization and strategic team building through a job class system. Characters can switch between various occupations like Host, Musician, or Chef, each offering unique skills and stat growth. Leveling up a job provides permanent stat bonuses and powerful abilities that carry over when changing classes.

The action moves from Kamurocho to the expansive district of Isezaki Ijincho in Yokohama, which is approximately three times larger than previous maps. This new setting provides a diverse range of activities, from serene parks to bustling Chinatown streets, enhancing the sense of adventure.
