Yakuza: Like a Dragon introduces a new turn-based combat system, but its exploration and movement mechanics remain rooted in the series' action-adventure origins. Navigating the vibrant city of Yokohama is intuitive, allowing players to freely explore, interact with the environment, and engage with the game's numerous activities. Understanding these fundamental controls is key to a smooth and enjoyable experience.

Movement is controlled using the left analog stick. A gentle push allows Ichiban Kasuga to walk, perfect for examining your surroundings or approaching NPCs cautiously. Pushing the stick further makes Ichiban run, enabling faster traversal across the map. The right analog stick is dedicated to camera control, allowing you to pan, zoom, and adjust your viewpoint to get a better look at the environment or track enemies.

Key controls for movement and general interaction include:

Movement: Left Analog Stick (Walk/Run)
Camera Control: Right Analog Stick
Interact: 'X' (PlayStation) / 'A' (Xbox). This context-sensitive button is used for talking to characters, picking up items, opening doors, initiating substories, and interacting with various objects in the world.
