Chapter 5: The Liumang Man
Chapter 5 introduces players to more of Yakuza: Like a Dragon's core mechanics and narrative. This chapter further immerses players in the turn-based combat system, a significant departure from the series' previous real-time brawler style. Players will continue to experience the depth of the job class system and its strategic implications.
The game's shift to turn-based RPG mechanics was a calculated risk that proved successful, attracting new players and satisfying many long-time fans. The job class system is central to this, allowing characters to adopt roles like Host, Musician, or Chef, each with distinct skills and stat progressions. Leveling up these jobs provides permanent stat bonuses and powerful abilities that persist even when switching classes.
Side activities, such as the Business Management simulation, are deeply integrated into the progression. Excelling in business management not only provides a significant source of income for purchasing top-tier equipment but also unlocks one of the most powerful job classes, the Dealer, for the entire party, along with the Forever Hero outfit for Ichiban. This integration ensures that engaging with side content is meaningful and rewarding, contributing directly to character and party strength.
