While all Yoshis share the same core abilities (jump, flutter jump, tongue, ground pound, yarn throw), their appearance changes dramatically based on the Wonder Wools you collect. There are over 50 unique Yoshi patterns to unlock, each with its own charm:
- Default Green Yoshi: Your starting companion, classic and reliable.
- Wonder Wool Yoshis: Each set of 5 Wonder Wools collected in a level unlocks a new Yoshi pattern. These range from simple color swaps (Red Yoshi, Blue Yoshi) to more intricate designs (Cow Yoshi, Robot Yoshi, Shy Guy Yoshi).
- Amiibo Yoshis: Tapping a compatible amiibo unlocks a Yoshi pattern themed after that character (e.g., Mario Yoshi, Link Yoshi, Samus Yoshi). The Yarn Yoshi amiibo unlock specific Yarn Yoshi patterns.
- Mii-Yoshis: You can create a custom Yoshi pattern based on your Mii character, allowing for even more personalization.
The choice of Yoshi is purely cosmetic, allowing you to express your style without affecting gameplay. Collect them all to fill your Yoshi Hut!
