2-4: Weighty Way

Welcome to "Weighty Way," a level that truly lives up to its name! This stage introduces dynamic platforms that react to Yoshi's weight, requiring precise timing and quick thinking. You'll encounter sinking platforms, rising platforms, and heavy blocks that need to be manipulated to progress and uncover secrets. There are 5 Wonder Wools and 5 Smiley Flowers to collect in this level.

Walkthrough

Starting Area & First Weighted Platforms:
The level begins with a series of weighted platforms. The first set will sink slowly under Yoshi's weight. Use these to reach higher ground. As you proceed, you'll see a platform that rises when you stand on it. Use this to reach a higher ledge.
- Smiley Flower #1: After the initial rising platform, you'll come to a section with several sinking platforms. The first Smiley Flower is located directly above the third sinking platform in this sequence. You'll need to jump quickly to grab it before the platform drops too low.
Heavy Block Puzzle & Hidden Cloud:
You'll soon encounter large, heavy blocks. These blocks can be pushed by Yoshi. Pushing them often reveals hidden paths or activates mechanisms.
- Wonder Wool #1: After pushing the first heavy block to the right, instead of continuing forward, look for a hidden cloud directly above the block you just moved. Jump and flutter to reveal it, then hit it with a yarn ball to collect the Wonder Wool.
- Smiley Flower #2: Continue past the first heavy block. You'll find another heavy block blocking a path. Push this second heavy block completely to the right to reveal a hidden alcove containing the second Smiley Flower.
Mid-Level Checkpoint & Rising Platforms:
After navigating the heavy blocks, you'll reach the first checkpoint. Beyond this, you'll encounter more rising and sinking platforms, often in conjunction with enemies like Shy Guys.
- Wonder Wool #2: Shortly after the checkpoint, you'll see a series of rising platforms. The second Wonder Wool is located in a hidden cloud high above the second rising platform. You'll need to jump from the peak of its rise and flutter to reach the cloud, then hit it with a yarn ball.
- Smiley Flower #3: Following the section with the rising platforms, you'll come across a small gap with a single sinking platform. The third Smiley Flower is floating directly above this single sinking platform. Grab it quickly before the platform descends.
Collapsing Platforms & Second Checkpoint:
The next section introduces collapsing platforms. These platforms will break apart shortly after you land on them, so move quickly!
- Wonder Wool #3: During the sequence of collapsing platforms, keep an eye out for a small alcove to the upper-right after the third collapsing platform. You'll need to quickly jump and flutter into this hidden area to find the third Wonder Wool.
You'll then reach the second checkpoint.
Final Heavy Blocks & Hidden Paths:
The last stretch of the level features more heavy blocks and intricate platforming challenges.
- Smiley Flower #4: After the second checkpoint, you'll encounter a series of heavy blocks that need to be pushed to create a path. The fourth Smiley Flower is located in a visible alcove that becomes accessible once you've pushed the third heavy block to its furthest point, clearing the way.
- Wonder Wool #4: Near the end of the level, just before the final set of weighted platforms leading to the goal, look for a seemingly dead-end wall to your left. Ground pound near this wall to reveal a hidden path leading to a small chamber containing the fourth Wonder Wool.
- Smiley Flower #5: As you approach the goal ring, you'll see a large, multi-tiered structure of weighted platforms. The final Smiley Flower is positioned high above the highest point of this structure. You'll need to use the rising platforms strategically to gain enough height to reach it.
- Wonder Wool #5: The final Wonder Wool is cleverly hidden. After collecting the fifth Smiley Flower and just before the goal ring, look for a small, seemingly empty space to the far upper-right of the goal platform. Throw a yarn ball into this area to reveal a hidden cloud containing the last Wonder Wool.

Tips for Success

Timing is Key: Many platforms in this level require precise jumps and quick movements. Don't linger on sinking or collapsing platforms.
Flutter Jump Effectively: Yoshi's flutter jump is invaluable for extending your reach, recovering from mistimed jumps, and accessing higher secrets.
Look for Hidden Clouds: As always, keep an eye out for suspicious empty spaces or areas that seem just out of reach. Throwing a yarn ball can often reveal hidden clouds containing collectibles.
Manipulate Heavy Blocks: Remember that heavy blocks can be pushed. Experiment with their placement to open new paths or reveal hidden items.
