Walkthrough and Collectibles
The level begins in a lush, green forest area with fabric trees and platforms. Keep an eye out for various enemies that blend into the environment, including standard Shy Guys, Winged Shy Guys, Spiky Shy Guys, and even Piranha Plants disguised as fabric flowers.
Section 1: The Initial Clearing
- As you start, move forward past the first few platforms. You'll immediately encounter a couple of standard Shy Guys. These common foes can be eaten for yarn balls or simply avoided.
- Smiley Flower #1: Immediately after the first group of Shy Guys, you'll see a large, vertical fabric wall on your right. This wall appears to be a solid background element, but closer inspection reveals a subtle seam. Use Yoshi's tongue to unravel this wall completely. Behind it, the first Smiley Flower will be revealed.
- Continue right, navigating a series of platforms. You'll encounter a few more Shy Guys. Remember to stock up on yarn balls by eating them.
- Wonder Wool #1: After navigating the platforms and defeating a few more Shy Guys, look for a slightly darker, circular patch of fabric on the ground, just before a small upward slope. This patch is subtly different from the surrounding terrain. Perform a ground pound on this area to reveal a hidden cloud. Hit the cloud with a yarn ball to make the first Wonder Wool appear.
- Stamp Patch #1: Just after collecting Wonder Wool #1, you'll see a small, seemingly decorative fabric bush on a lower ledge to your right. Jump down to this ledge. Perform a ground pound directly on top of the bush. This will reveal a hidden cloud. Hit the cloud with a yarn ball to collect the first Stamp Patch.
Section 2: The Threaded Path
- Proceed into an area characterized by numerous loose threads hanging from the ceiling and walls. These threads are not just decorative; many are interactive and hold secrets.
- You'll encounter several Winged Shy Guys (also known as Fly Guys) carrying coins. These are excellent sources of extra currency. Use yarn balls or a well-timed tongue flick to defeat them and collect their dropped coins.
- Smiley Flower #2: As you move through the threaded path, you'll spot a prominent loose thread hanging from a fabric block above your head, slightly to the left of the main path. Use Yoshi's tongue to pull this thread. Pulling it will cause a section of the background tapestry to retract, revealing a hidden alcove containing the second Smiley Flower.
- Shortly after, you'll reach the first checkpoint flag. hit it to save your progress and replenish your hearts.
Section 3: The Camouflaged Cavern
This section introduces enemies that are expertly camouflaged against the darker fabric background. Proceed with caution and pay close attention to subtle movements and environmental cues.
- Wonder Wool #2: After passing the first checkpoint, you'll enter a cavern-like area with darker fabric walls and ceilings. Look for a large, seemingly solid fabric block on the ceiling, just above a small gap in the floor. Jump and flutter to reach this block, then unravel the bottom edge of this block using your tongue. It will reveal a hidden passage leading upwards to a small, enclosed chamber containing the second Wonder Wool.
- You'll encounter Spiky Shy Guys in this area. These enemies cannot be eaten directly. Remember to defeat them by eating them and spitting them out at other enemies or obstacles, or by ground pounding nearby to stun them before eating. Alternatively, a direct yarn ball hit will also defeat them.
- Smiley Flower #3: Further into the cavern, you'll see a series of platforms that appear to be part of the background, blending in with the dark fabric. One of these platforms, slightly elevated and positioned just after a small drop, has a faint, almost transparent outline. Jump onto this subtly outlined platform. Once on it, look for a hidden cloud directly above it. This cloud is invisible until you are in the correct position. Hit this cloud with a yarn ball to make the third Smiley Flower materialize.
- Stamp Patch #2: After collecting Smiley Flower #3, continue moving right. You'll come across a small vertical shaft with a few platforms. Instead of going up, look for a small, dark recess in the fabric wall on the left side of this shaft, near the bottom. This recess is slightly darker than the surrounding wall. Throw a yarn ball into this recess to reveal a hidden cloud. Hit the cloud to collect the second Stamp Patch.
Section 4: The Shifting Scenery
This part of the level features dynamic fabric elements that move or reveal secrets when interacted with. Timing and quick reflexes are sometimes necessary here.
- Wonder Wool #3: After exiting the cavern and returning to an outdoor area, you'll come across a large, patterned fabric wall that looks like a tapestry, stretching across the background. There's a subtle, vertical seam running down the middle of this tapestry. Use a yarn ball to hit this seam. The tapestry will split open, revealing a hidden alcove with the third Wonder Wool.
- You'll encounter Piranha Plants in this section, cleverly disguised as fabric flowers. They will pop out when you get close. Spit yarn balls at them to defeat them from a safe distance.
- Smiley Flower #4: Shortly after the tapestry, you'll find a series of platforms that periodically retract into the background and then extend again. Wait for a platform to extend, then quickly jump across to the next. On the third extending platform in this sequence, look for a small, unraveled section on its underside. Jump and flutter underneath the platform, then unravel this section with your tongue to reveal a hidden cloud. Hit the cloud with a yarn ball for the fourth Smiley Flower. This requires precise timing and a good flutter jump.
- You'll reach the second checkpoint flag shortly after this platforming section.
Section 5: The Final Stretch
The last section of Fabric Forest will test your platforming skills, observation, and ability to spot the most well-hidden secrets before reaching the goal.
- Wonder Wool #4: As you approach the final set of platforms leading to the goal, you'll see a large, seemingly decorative fabric tree in the background. Pay close attention to its trunk, specifically near the base. There's a small, almost invisible loose thread or a slightly lighter patch of fabric near the ground level of the trunk. Use Yoshi's tongue to pull this thread. The entire tree will unravel, revealing a secret passage behind it that leads to a small, hidden area containing the fourth Wonder Wool.
- Smiley Flower #5: Just before the final goal post, there's a tall stack of fabric blocks forming a small tower. Instead of going straight for the goal, jump onto the highest block of this tower. From there, jump and perform a long flutter jump to the left, towards the very edge of the screen. You'll discover an invisible cloud floating in mid-air. Hit it with a yarn ball to get the fifth and final Smiley Flower.
- Wonder Wool #5: The very last Wonder Wool is often the trickiest and most well-hidden. After collecting the fifth Smiley Flower, drop down from the fabric blocks. Look for a large, seemingly impassable fabric wall to the right of the goal post. This wall has a very faint, almost invisible outline of a door or a rectangular seam. Throw a yarn ball at the center of this "door" to unravel it, revealing a secret room containing the fifth and final Wonder Wool.
- Once all collectibles are secured, head to the goal post to complete the level!

Tips for Success
- Look for Loose Threads and Seams: Many secrets in Fabric Forest are hidden behind unravelable fabric. Always be on the lookout for subtle loose threads, faint seams, or slightly discolored patches on walls and floors. If it looks even slightly off, try unraveling it with your tongue or hitting it with a yarn ball.
- Hidden Clouds are Everywhere: Don't just look for visible clouds. Many are hidden within the environment and require a ground pound, unraveling a specific fabric section, or precise jumping to reveal. If you're stuck, try ground pounding suspicious areas or throwing yarn balls at empty spaces.
- Camouflaged Enemies: Enemies like Shy Guys, Spiky Shy Guys, and Piranha Plants often blend in remarkably well with the fabric background. Keep your eyes peeled for any slight movement, unusual patterns, or shadows that might indicate an enemy.
- Yarn Ball Management: Always try to have a full stock of yarn balls (maximum of 6). They are essential for hitting hidden clouds, defeating enemies, and unraveling fabric. Eat every Shy Guy you encounter to replenish your supply.
- Flutter Jump Mastery: The flutter jump is crucial for reaching high platforms, crossing wide gaps, and exploring hidden areas. Practice your timing and duration to maximize its effectiveness. A well-timed flutter can often save you from a fall or lead you to a secret.
- Explore Every Nook and Cranny: Fabric Forest is designed to reward thorough exploration. Don't rush through. Take your time to investigate every corner, every suspicious-looking wall, and every platform.
- Listen for Clues: Sometimes, the game provides subtle audio cues when a hidden item is nearby, such as a faint jingle. Keep your ears open!
