A major draw of Yoshi's Woolly World is the vast array of playable Yoshi patterns. Collecting all 5 Wonder Wools in a level unlocks a new Yoshi. Here's how to ensure you get them all and customize your experience:
- Wonder Wool Collection: As detailed in the 'Side Quests & Activities' section, collecting all 5 Wonder Wools in each of the 48 main levels will unlock 20 unique Yoshi patterns. These are the primary way to expand your Yoshi collection.
- Amiibo Unlocks: Tapping any Yoshi amiibo (Yarn Yoshi, Smash Bros. Yoshi, etc.) will unlock a specific Yoshi pattern. Tapping other compatible amiibo (e.g., Mario, Link, Samus) will unlock a Yoshi pattern themed after that character. There are many amiibo-exclusive Yoshis!
- Mii-Yoshis: In the Yoshi Hut, you can create a custom Yoshi pattern based on your Mii character. This allows for a truly personalized Yoshi. You can save this Mii-Yoshi to a Yarn Yoshi amiibo.
- Yoshi Hut: This is your hub for viewing and selecting all your unlocked Yoshis. You can browse your collection and choose your favorite before starting a level.
