Crafting System Explained

The crafting system in Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel is your primary method for obtaining specific cards to complete your ideal deck. Unlike opening packs, crafting allows you to pinpoint exactly which cards you need, making it an invaluable tool for both new and veteran duelists. Understanding its mechanics is crucial for efficient resource management and deck building.

Accessing the Crafting Menu

To begin crafting, navigate to the main menu and select the "Deck" option. From there, choose any deck (or create a new one) and enter the "Deck Edit" screen. In the Deck Edit screen, you'll see a button labeled "Card Search" or a similar icon (often a magnifying glass). Clicking this will bring up the comprehensive card database. Within the card database, look for the "Craft" button, typically located near the bottom of the screen or alongside individual card details.

Crafting Materials: Craft Points (CP)

The core currency for crafting cards are Craft Points (CP). These are categorized by card rarity:

  • N CP (Normal Craft Points): Used for crafting Normal rarity cards.
  • R CP (Rare Craft Points): Used for crafting Rare rarity cards.
  • SR CP (Super Rare Craft Points): Used for crafting Super Rare rarity cards.
  • UR CP (Ultra Rare Craft Points): Used for crafting Ultra Rare rarity cards.

Each card rarity requires a specific amount of its corresponding CP to craft. For example, crafting a single Ultra Rare card will cost 30 UR CP.

Obtaining Craft Points

There are several reliable ways to accumulate Craft Points:

1. Dismantling Cards

This is the most common and direct method. Any card in your collection that you possess more than three copies of (the maximum allowed in a deck) or cards you simply don't need can be dismantled. To do this:

  1. Go to the "Deck Edit" screen.
  2. Select "Card Search."
  3. Find the card you wish to dismantle.
  4. Click on the card to view its details.
  5. Select the "Dismantle" option.

The amount of CP received from dismantling depends on the card's rarity:

  • Normal: 10 N CP
  • Rare: 10 R CP
  • Super Rare: 10 SR CP
  • Ultra Rare: 10 UR CP

Strategy Tip: Always dismantle excess copies of cards, especially those from Secret Packs you've finished pulling from, or cards from archetypes you have no interest in playing. Be mindful that dismantling a card only gives you 1/3rd of the CP required to craft a card of the same rarity (e.g., dismantling one UR card gives 10 UR CP, but crafting one costs 30 UR CP). This means you need to dismantle three cards of a specific rarity to craft one card of that same rarity.

2. Duel Pass Rewards

The Duel Pass, both the free and Gold variants, offers a consistent stream of Craft Points as you progress through its tiers. Many tiers reward bundles of N, R, SR, and UR CP, making it a valuable source, especially for players who regularly complete daily missions and duel.

3. Event Rewards

Participating in limited-time events, such as the XYZ Festival or Synchro Festival, often yields Craft Points as rewards for achieving certain milestones or ranking high. Keep an eye on the "Events" tab for upcoming opportunities.

4. Login Bonuses

Occasionally, daily or cumulative login bonuses will include small amounts of various Craft Points. While not a primary source, these can add up over time.

Crafting a Card: Step-by-Step

Once you have sufficient Craft Points, crafting is straightforward:

  1. From the main menu, navigate to "Deck" and then "Deck Edit."
  2. Select "Card Search."
  3. Use the search filters to locate the specific card you wish to craft. If you don't own the card, it will still appear in the search results, but with a "Craft" button instead of "Add to Deck."
  4. Click on the desired card.
  5. On the card details screen, select the "Craft" button.
  6. Confirm your decision. The required CP will be deducted, and the card will be added to your collection.

Important Note: You can only craft cards that are available in the game's database. Some cards might be exclusive to specific Secret Packs or Structure Decks for a limited time before becoming craftable.

Glossy and Royal Finish Cards

When crafting, there's a small chance that the card you create will have a "Glossy" or "Royal" finish. These are purely cosmetic upgrades and do not affect gameplay. They are rarer than standard cards and are highly sought after by collectors. The chance of obtaining a Glossy or Royal finish is random and cannot be influenced by the player.

Crafting Strategy for New Players

  • Focus on Staples: Prioritize crafting generic, powerful cards that fit into many decks, such as "Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring," "Maxx 'C'," "Infinite Impermanence," or "Called by the Grave." These provide immediate value across various strategies.
  • Complete Archetypes: Once you've decided on a specific archetype or deck strategy, use crafting to acquire the key Ultra Rare and Super Rare cards that are essential for its functionality and consistency.
  • Avoid Crafting N/R Cards Early: Normal and Rare cards are abundant. You'll likely acquire most of the N/R cards you need through opening packs and playing. Save your N and R CP for when you truly need a specific common card to finish a deck.
  • Dismantle Wisely: Don't dismantle every card you don't immediately use. Some cards might become relevant with future updates or in different deck builds. However, excess copies (more than 3) are always safe to dismantle.

Mastering the crafting system is key to building competitive decks efficiently in Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel. By strategically acquiring and spending your Craft Points, you can quickly assemble the cards you need to climb the ranks and dominate your opponents.
