Friend List & Communication
Mastering the art of dueling isn't just about your deck; it's also about who you duel with! Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel provides robust features for connecting with other players, adding them to your Friend List, and even challenging them to friendly matches. This section will guide you through all aspects of friend management and communication within the game.
Accessing the Friend List
Your Friend List is the central hub for all your social interactions in Master Duel. To access it:
- From the Home Screen, navigate to the top-right corner.
- Select the "Friends" icon (typically represented by two overlapping silhouettes).
- This will open the Friend List interface, displaying your current friends, pending requests, and options to add new duelists.
Adding Friends
There are several ways to expand your circle of duelists:
1. Adding by Duelist ID
The most direct method to add a specific player is by using their unique Duelist ID. Every player has one, found on their profile.
- From the Friend List screen, select the "Add Friend" button.
- Choose the "Search by Duelist ID" option.
- Enter the 10-digit Duelist ID of You you wish to add. Ensure accuracy, as even a single incorrect digit will result in "Duelist Not Found."
- A friend request will be sent. The other player must accept it for them to appear on your Friend List.
2. Adding from Recent Duels
Had an epic duel and want to connect with your opponent? Master Duel makes it easy:
- After completing a duel (Ranked, Event, or Casual), you'll see the "Duel Result" screen.
- Look for the "Add Friend" button or icon next to your opponent's name.
- Selecting this will send a friend request directly to that player.
- You can also access a list of recent duelists from the Friend List menu by selecting "Recent Duelists." From there, you can send requests to anyone you've recently played against.
3. Adding from Room Matches
If you're participating in a Room Match, you can add fellow room members:
- While in a Room Match Lobby, select a player's avatar or name.
- Their profile will appear, often with an "Add Friend" option.
- Confirm to send the request.
Managing Friend Requests
When someone sends you a friend request, you'll receive a notification. To manage these:
- Access your Friend List.
- Navigate to the "Requests" tab (or similar, depending on UI updates).
- Here, you can see incoming requests. You have two options:
- Accept: Adds You to your Friend List.
- Decline: Rejects the request.
- You can also view any outgoing requests you've sent that are still pending.
Challenging Friends to Duels
One of the primary benefits of having friends in Master Duel is the ability to challenge them directly:
- From your Friend List, select the friend you wish to challenge.
- On their profile, you'll see an option like "Duel" or "Challenge."
- Selecting this will initiate a duel invitation. Your friend must be online and accept the invitation to begin the match.
- These duels are typically unranked and are excellent for testing new decks, practicing combos, or just having fun without the pressure of the ladder.
Communication and Etiquette
While Master Duel doesn't feature a robust in-game chat system, there are still ways to communicate:
- Emotes: During duels, you can use various emotes to express reactions. While not direct communication, they add a layer of interaction.
- External Platforms: Many Master Duel players utilize external communication platforms like Discord, Reddit, or dedicated Yu-Gi-Oh! forums to coordinate duels, discuss strategies, and share Duelist IDs. Consider joining these communities to enhance your social experience.
- Profile Messages (Limited): Some events or features might allow for brief, pre-set messages or status updates on your profile. Keep an eye out for these.
Important Note on Etiquette: Always be respectful when interacting with other duelists. Harassment or unsportsmanlike conduct can lead to reports and potential account penalties. Keep duels friendly and fun!
