Magic Container Acquisition Guide

Magic Containers are invaluable in Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, permanently increasing your maximum Magic Points (MP) and allowing for more frequent spell casting. There are a total of eight Magic Containers scattered across Hyrule. Collecting all of them is crucial for mastering the game's challenges, especially the later palaces and boss encounters.

North Palace Magic Container

This is likely the first Magic Container you'll encounter. It's located within the North Palace, the very first dungeon of the game.

• Location: North Palace, just before the first boss.
• Steps:
  1. Enter the North Palace.
  2. Navigate through the palace until you reach the room with the first Iron Knuckle.
  3. Defeat the Iron Knuckle and proceed through the door it was guarding.
  4. In the next room, you'll find the Magic Container sitting on a pedestal. Simply walk into it to collect it.

Rauru Town Magic Container

The second Magic Container is found in the town of Rauru, early in your adventure.

• Location: Rauru Town, inside a hidden basement.
• Steps:
  1. Travel to Rauru Town.
  2. Locate the house with a chimney that is emitting smoke. This is typically the second house from the left on the upper row.
  3. Enter this house.
  4. Inside, speak to the woman. She will tell you about a secret.
  5. Stand directly on the fireplace hearth and use the "Jump" spell. This will reveal a hidden basement entrance.
  6. Descend into the basement. The Magic Container will be waiting for you.

Saria Town Magic Container

Saria Town holds another Magic Container, requiring a bit of exploration and interaction.

• Location: Saria Town, within a hidden cave.
• Steps:
  1. Head to Saria Town.
  2. Find the house of the Wise Man (often identifiable by its unique roof or position).
  3. Speak to the Wise Man. He will teach you the "Jump" spell if you haven't learned it already, and hint at a secret.
  4. Exit the Wise Man's house.
  5. Walk to the far right side of Saria Town. You'll notice a small, seemingly inaccessible cave entrance in the cliff face.
  6. Stand in front of this cave entrance and use the "Jump" spell. This will allow you to reach the entrance.
  7. Enter the cave to claim your Magic Container.

Mido Town Magic Container

This Magic Container is cleverly hidden and requires a specific item to access.

• Location: Mido Town, behind a locked door.
• Prerequisite: You must have acquired the "Hammer" from Death Mountain.
• Steps:
  1. Travel to Mido Town.
  2. Locate the house in the upper-left corner of the town.
  3. Enter this house.
  4. Inside, you'll see a man blocking a doorway. Speak to him. He will mention that he's blocking the way to a treasure.
  5. Use the "Hammer" on the rock wall directly behind the man. This will break the wall and reveal a path.
  6. Proceed through the newly opened path to find the Magic Container.

Palace of Mido Magic Container

Another Magic Container is found within the Palace of Mido, the second palace you'll conquer.

• Location: Palace of Mido, in a hidden chamber.
• Steps:
  1. Enter the Palace of Mido.
  2. Navigate through the palace until you reach the room with the first set of Bubbles (floating skulls).
  3. In this room, you'll notice a block on the floor that looks slightly different from the others, usually near the center or slightly to the right.
  4. Stand on this specific block and use the "Jump" spell. This will reveal a hidden passage leading downwards.
  5. Descend into the hidden passage. The Magic Container will be at the bottom.

Island Palace Magic Container

The Island Palace, also known as the Maze Island Palace, holds a Magic Container that can be tricky to find.

• Location: Island Palace (Maze Island Palace), within a secret passage.
• Steps:
  1. Enter the Island Palace.
  2. Proceed through the palace until you reach the room with the first set of Wizzrobes (magic-casting enemies).
  3. In this Wizzrobe room, look for a section of the floor that appears to be a single, isolated block. It's often located on the lower level of the room.
  4. Stand on this specific block and cast the "Jump" spell. This will open a hidden passage below you.
  5. Drop down into the secret area to collect the Magic Container.

Eastern Hyrule Magic Container (Hidden Cave)

This Magic Container is located in a secret cave on the Eastern Hyrule overworld map, requiring careful exploration.

• Location: Eastern Hyrule, in a hidden cave near the Water Town of Saria.
• Steps:
  1. From the Water Town of Saria, head east across the bridge.
  2. Continue heading east along the coastline.
  3. You'll eventually reach a point where the coastline turns sharply north, forming a small peninsula or inlet.
  4. Walk along the very edge of the water in this area. Keep an eye out for a single, distinct rock formation on the overworld map that looks like a small cave entrance.
  5. Step onto this specific tile on the overworld map. This will trigger an entrance to a hidden cave.
  6. Inside the cave, the Magic Container will be waiting.

Death Mountain Magic Container

The final Magic Container is found within the treacherous Death Mountain region, often requiring the "Hammer" to access.

• Location: Death Mountain, within a cave accessible after using the Hammer.
• Prerequisite: You must have the "Hammer" item.
• Steps:
  1. Enter Death Mountain from the overworld.
  2. Navigate through Death Mountain until you reach the area where you initially found the "Hammer" (if you haven't already).
  3. From the Hammer's location, continue exploring the caves. You'll encounter several rock blockages that require the "Hammer" to clear.
  4. Break through these rock blockages.
  5. Eventually, you will find a hidden cave entrance or a path leading to a secluded chamber. This is often in the deeper parts of Death Mountain, past the initial Hammer acquisition point.
  6. Inside this specific cave, you will discover the last Magic Container.
