Standard Soldiers & Guards

The most common adversaries you'll encounter are the standard soldiers and guards employed by the Inquisition and other hostile factions. These individuals are typically armed with swords and shields, and they patrol in predictable patterns. While not individually as dangerous as some other enemy types, their numbers and coordinated patrols can pose a significant threat if you're not careful.

Stealth is your primary tool against these enemies. Utilize the environment for cover, such as tall grass, crates, and shadows. Observe their patrol routes and timings carefully before making a move. Amicia can use her sling to silently take down isolated guards from a distance. Aim for the head for an instant kill. If you need to approach them directly, a well-timed parry followed by a quick attack can be effective, but this is risky and should only be attempted if you are confident in your timing.

When dealing with groups, distraction is key. Throwing rocks or using alchemical projectiles like is (fire bombs) can lure them away from their posts, allowing you to slip past or pick them off one by one. If you are detected, your best bet is often to retreat and break line of sight, allowing the guards to return to their patrols. Trying to fight multiple standard soldiers head-on without proper preparation is generally not advisable. Remember to utilize Hugo's abilities when available; his rats can be a powerful tool for clearing out groups of soldiers if you can direct them effectively.
