Learn how to defeat armored enemies and hulking Brutes in A Plague Tale: Requiem by targeting weak spots and using environmental hazards.

Armored Enemies & Brutes

Armored enemies and the hulking Brutes represent a significant escalation in combat difficulty. These foes are heavily protected, making them resistant to Amicia's standard sling attacks and even many of her alchemical concoctions. Brutes, in particular, are incredibly strong and can instantly kill Amicia with a single direct hit. Their presence demands a shift in strategy from pure stealth to a more calculated approach, often involving environmental hazards and precise timing.

Armored soldiers often wear metal plating that deflects direct sling shots. To overcome them, you'll need to target exposed areas, such as their heads or legs, which can be achieved with precise shots or by using specific alchemical items. Some armored enemies may also carry torches, which can be a weakness if you can extinguish them and plunge them into darkness, making them vulnerable to rats.

Brutes are the most formidable of these heavy units. They are slow but incredibly powerful. Direct confrontation is almost always suicide. Your primary strategy against Brutes should be evasion and environmental manipulation. Look for opportunities to use the environment against them. For instance, you might be able to trigger traps, collapse structures, or lure them into swarms of rats. Hugo's rat abilities are particularly effective here, as a concentrated swarm can overwhelm even the most heavily armored foes. Sometimes, the best approach is to simply avoid them altogether, using stealth and distractions to bypass their patrols.
