The Command Board is a fully developed mini-game in Among the Sleep that can be played anytime for free. It allows players to earn new commands and level up existing ones. Playing the Command Board can yield several otherwise difficult-to-obtain prizes.

The basic gameplay is similar to Monopoly. On your turn, you roll a die and move around a board. Landing on an empty panel allows you to buy it with GP (game currency) and a card. Opponents landing on your purchased panels must pay you a GP tax. A GP bonus is awarded for touching each of the four checkpoint panels and returning to the start. The objective is to return to the start with a total GP above a predetermined threshold, which includes GP spent on panels.
Players start with five cards and gain more by passing checkpoints or the start panel. One card is spent to buy any panel. Cards can also be played for bonuses:
- STUN (1 Attack Card): Target player loses their next turn.
- NAVIGATOR (2 Attack Cards): Allows movement in any direction, including backward.
- DOUBLE TOLL (3 Attack Cards): Doubles the GP tax for your squares for five turns.
- TWO DICE (1 Magic Card): Roll two dice for movement this turn.
- THREE DICE (2 Magic Cards): Roll three dice for movement this turn.
- GP PROTECTOR (1 Crown Card): Grants immunity to the next GP penalty.
- CONFUSE (2 Crown Cards): Opponents randomly choose directions at intersections for three turns.
- GP MAGNET (1 Attack, 1 Magic, 1 Crown Card): Gain 150 GP for each opponent-owned square.
- JOKER'S FORTUNE (1 Joker Card): Random bonus, with a chance for a free panel.
- GOLDEN FORTUNE (3 Joker Cards): Random bonus, with a chance for all panels in a zone for free.
Joker cards, obtained from checkpoints or the start panel, cannot be used to buy panels but offer the best bonuses.
Cards used to buy panels grant experience to corresponding deck commands. Empty panels with a yellow mark provide a pre-supplied command that is received for free at the end of the game, which is how most unique Command Board rewards are obtained.
There are seven Command Boards, each with a unique layout and rewards. The first six are unlocked through game progression, and the seventh is unlocked by winning on all other boards. It is recommended to choose a low GP goal to save time.
Playing in the Mirage Arena offers arena medals and level increases, but rewards may differ. For a quick win, focus on reaching checkpoints and returning to the start panel as fast as possible, utilizing TWO DICE and STUN moves. Starting near a checkpoint and using TWO DICE on the first turn allows immediate checkpoint passage and card replenishment. Returning to the start panel after visiting all checkpoints refills cards to five.
Some black panels (marked ~) cannot be bought and deduct GP upon landing, often near a Prize Cube.
