Clearing Other Crewmates
Clearing other crewmates in Among Us is a vital aspect of building trust and identifying Impostors. By vouching for innocent players, you help the crew make informed decisions and avoid ejecting valuable allies.
In the tense atmosphere of Among Us, trust is a scarce commodity. As a crewmate, your goal is to complete tasks and identify the Impostors. However, sometimes the most effective way to achieve this is by actively helping to clear innocent players. When you can confidently vouch for another crewmate's innocence, you not only help them survive but also strengthen the crew's collective knowledge and ability to detect the true Impostors.
Why Clearing Others is Important:
- Builds Trust: When you vouch for someone, and they are later proven innocent, it builds trust between you and that player, and potentially others who witnessed the vouch.
- Reduces Suspicion on Innocents: It helps innocent players avoid being wrongly accused and ejected.
- Focuses Suspicion: By clearing some players, you help narrow down the pool of suspects, making it easier to identify the Impostors.
- Gathers Information: When you clear someone, you often do so because you were with them or saw them perform a visual task. This information is valuable.
How to Clear Other Crewmates:
- Witnessing Visual Tasks: The most definitive way to clear someone is to see them complete a visual task. If you see someone successfully scan in MedBay or empty garbage, state it clearly during a meeting. "I saw Blue scan in MedBay, they are safe."
- Being with Them During a Kill: If you were with a player when a body was found elsewhere, and you can confirm they were with you the entire time, you can vouch for them. "I was with Red in Admin for the entire round, they couldn't have been in Electrical."
- Observing Consistent Tasking: If you observe a player moving logically between task locations and spending appropriate time at each, you can mention this. "I've seen Green moving efficiently between tasks in the upper part of the map, they seem to be doing their tasks."
- Corroborating Alibis: If someone provides an alibi that you can confirm, support their statement. "Yes, I was with Yellow in Cafeteria when the body was reported."
- Speaking Up During Meetings: Don't be afraid to speak up during meetings. If you have information that clears someone, share it.
What to Say:
- "I can vouch for [Player Name]. I saw them do [Visual Task] in [Location]."
- "I was with [Player Name] in [Location] when the body was found. They are innocent."
- "[Player Name] was with me in [Location] doing [Task]. They couldn't have been the killer."
Impostor Counter-Strategies:
- Pretend to Clear: Impostors might pretend to clear someone to gain trust, only to kill that person later or use the cleared person as a shield.
- Manipulate Clearing: An Impostor might try to get a crewmate to clear them, then use that cleared status to their advantage.
- Accuse the Cleared: If a crewmate is cleared, an Impostor might try to frame them later to sow confusion.
Example Scenario:
Body found in Navigation. During the meeting:
You: "I found the body in Navigation. I was coming from Shields. I saw Purple doing the 'Fix Wiring' task in Shields before I left."
Purple: "Yes, I was doing wiring. I saw you leave Shields and head towards Navigation."
You: "So, Purple is clear. I suspect Red because they were seen near Navigation earlier."
By actively clearing Purple, you've removed them as a suspect and focused the crew's attention on Red, based on your observation. This collaborative approach is essential for the crew's success.
