Once you've chosen your island layout and tent location, Tom Nook will introduce you to the concept of Resident Services. Initially, this will be a simple tent where Tom Nook and Isabelle (eventually) will operate. This tent serves as your primary hub for all island development, resource management, and villager interactions in the early game. Understanding its functions is crucial for progressing.

Your first major task involving Resident Services is to pay off your initial Nook Miles debt for the Deserted Island Getaway Package. This is done by interacting with Tom Nook at the Resident Services tent. He will explain the Nook Miles program and how to earn them. Focus on completing easy Nook Miles+ tasks like catching fish, picking weeds, or talking to villagers to quickly accumulate the necessary 5,000 Nook Miles. Once paid, you'll gain access to more advanced services and unlock the ability to upgrade your tent into a proper house.

Tip: Don't rush to pay off your debt immediately if you're enjoying exploring. Nook Miles tasks are a great way to learn the game's mechanics and discover new things on your island. However, paying it off does unlock sificant progress, so keep it in mind as a primary goal.
