Terraforming is the ultimate expression of island customization in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, allowing you to reshape your island's very landscape. Before you can start moving rivers and raising cliffs, you'll need to reach a specific point in the game's progression. This powerful ability is unlocked much later than the initial tasks, typically after K.K. Slider has performed his first concert on your island, sifying a 3-star island rating.
Once unlocked, the Island Deser app will be added to your NookPhone. This app is your gateway to creating the island of your dreams. It comes with a few basic permits initially, but you'll need to purchase additional permits using Nook Miles to unlock its full potential. Don't worry, the Nook Miles you've accumulated throughout your island development will come in handy here!
Unlocking the Island Deser App
- Achieve a 3-star island rating. This typically involves having enough residents, decorations, and infrastructure.
- Have K.K. Slider perform his first concert on your island.
- After the concert, Tom Nook will visit you and grant you the Island Deser app on your NookPhone.
Basic Terraforming Tools
Upon receiving the Island Deser app, you'll immediately have access to two fundamental tools:
- Waterscaping Permit: Allows you to dig and fill in rivers, create ponds, and even waterfalls.
- Cliff-Construction Permit: Enables you to build up or tear down cliffs, creating multiple levels on your island.
To use these tools, simply open your NookPhone, select the Island Deser app, and then choose the desired permit. Your character will then equip a hard hat, and you can begin shaping your island. Remember, terraforming can be time-consuming, so plan your changes carefully!
