Unlocking the NookPhone

The NookPhone is arguably your most essential tool in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, acting as your personal interface for a multitude of in-game functions. Fortunately, you won't have to wait long to get your hands on this indispensable device. Tom Nook, ever the generous (and strategic) benefactor, will provide it to you very early in your island life.

To unlock the NookPhone, simply follow Tom Nook's initial instructions upon your arrival. After you've chosen your tent location and spoken with him a few times, he will officially present you with the device. There are no special tasks or prerequisites beyond progressing through the very first moments of the game. Once you have it, you can access it at any time by pressing the ZL button on your Nintendo Switch controller.
