Unlocking the Nook's Cranny Super Tiers
Nook's Cranny is your island's essential general store, and while it starts as a humble tent, it can eventually expand into a much larger, more impressive establishment offering a wider variety of goods. Unlocking these "super tiers" (often referred to as the second and third upgrades) is a key part of island development and provides sificant benefits to your gameplay.
The first upgrade to Nook's Cranny, transforming it from a tent to a small wooden building, is relatively straightforward. However, the subsequent upgrades require more dedication and time. These expansions not only increase the store's physical size but also introduce new furniture, tools, and even special seasonal items, making it a crucial milestone for any aspiring island deser and collector.
To unlock the first permanent Nook's Cranny building, you must first repay your initial Nook Miles debt to Tom Nook. After this, Timmy and Tommy will approach you with a request to gather materials for their new shop. You'll need to collect:
- 30 pieces of Wood
- 30 pieces of Hardwood
- 30 pieces of Softwood
- 30 Iron Nuggets
Once these materials are provided, the store will be built the following day. To unlock the second, larger Nook's Cranny upgrade, several conditions must be met:
- At least 30 days must have passed since the initial Nook's Cranny building was constructed.
- Mabel must have visited your island at least once.
- You must have spent or sold a cumulative total of at least 200,000 Bells at Nook's Cranny. This includes both purchases and sales.
Meeting these criteria will trigger the expansion, which will also take one day to complete. There isn't a third "super tier" beyond this second expansion; the larger building is the final form of Nook's Cranny. Focus on consistent buying and selling, and time will take care of the rest!
