Your drop location is one of the most critical decisions in Apex Legends. It dictates your early game loot, potential engagements, and overall strategy. The Jumpmaster (one of your squadmates) chooses the drop point, but you can suggest locations. Aim for areas with good loot density but be mindful of other squads landing nearby. Hot drops (high-tier loot zones) offer quick action but high risk, while safer drops allow for more methodical looting.

Landing Zone Considerations:

  • Hot Zones (Blue Circle): These areas are marked on the map and contain high-tier loot, including fully-kitted weapons. Expect heavy early-game combat.
  • Supply Ships: A moving ship that offers good loot but is often contested.
  • Vaults (World's Edge): Require a Vault Key (found in Supply Bins) to open, containing legendary loot.
  • POI (Points of Interest): Named locations on the map, varying in loot quality and popularity.

Drop Strategy:

  • Split Drop: As Jumpmaster, you can 'split' from your teammates by holding the designated key/button, allowing them to land slightly apart for more efficient looting.
  • Contested Drops: If landing with other teams, prioritize finding a weapon immediately.
  • Uncontested Drops: Focus on quickly looting and gearing up before rotating to the next point of interest.
  • High Ground First: If possible, land on high ground within your chosen POI to gain an immediate advantage.
