Flashpoint
Flashpoint introduces a unique objective-based combat scenario where controlling 'Flashpoints' is key to victory. These designated zones offer healing benefits to those within them, but also become focal points for intense firefights. Success in Flashpoint requires strategic zone control, aggressive pushes, and effective team coordination.
The core mechanic of Flashpoint revolves around the 'Flashpoints' themselves. These are specific areas on the map that, when occupied by a player or squad, provide a continuous healing effect. This means that standing within a Flashpoint will slowly regenerate your health and shields, negating the need for traditional healing items. However, these zones are also highly contested, attracting multiple squads eager to gain the advantage of constant healing. The game often features multiple Flashpoints active simultaneously, forcing strategic decisions about which to capture and defend.
Capturing and holding a Flashpoint is the primary objective. When your team controls a Flashpoint, you gain a significant survivability advantage. This makes them prime targets for both offense and defense. Teams will often push aggressively to take control of a Flashpoint from opponents, or set up defensive positions to prevent enemies from capturing it. The healing effect is substantial, allowing for prolonged engagements and quick recoveries after taking damage, provided you remain within the zone.
Looting in Flashpoint is a bit different. While you still need weapons, armor, and attachments, the reliance on traditional healing items like shield batteries and medkits is significantly reduced. This frees up inventory space for more ammo, grenades, or utility items. However, it's wise to carry a few healing items for situations where you might be forced out of a Flashpoint or need to heal quickly while rotating between zones. Legends that excel at area denial or providing cover, such as Caustic, Wattson, or Gibraltar, can be incredibly effective at defending Flashpoints.
Flashpoint Victory Strategies:
- Prioritize capturing and holding Flashpoints for their healing benefits.
- Coordinate aggressive pushes to take enemy-controlled Flashpoints.
- Use defensive legends to fortify captured Flashpoints.
- Carry fewer healing items and more ammo or grenades.
- Be aware of enemy rotations between Flashpoints.
