Winter Express is a fast-paced, objective-based LTM set on a moving train. Teams battle to capture and hold the train's engine car, which acts as the primary objective. This mode emphasizes close-quarters combat, strategic use of abilities, and quick rotations as the train travels across the map.
The core of Winter Express is its unique setting and objective. The game takes place on a moving train, with a single objective: capture and hold the engine car. The train travels along a set track, and the objective car is clearly marked. Teams spawn at opposite ends of the train and must fight their way towards the engine. The first team to hold the engine car for a set amount of time wins the round. The game is played in a best-of-three rounds format.
Combat in Winter Express is almost exclusively close-quarters. The confined spaces of the train cars make long-range engagements difficult, forcing players to rely on shotguns, SMGs, and assault rifles. Mastering movement and using cover effectively is crucial. The train's cars offer plenty of opportunities for flanking and ambushing. Legends with abilities that excel in close-quarters or provide mobility are highly valuable. For example, Octane's jump pad can be used to quickly traverse between cars or reach the objective, while Wraith's portal can facilitate team rotations.
Looting in Winter Express is streamlined. Each team starts with a pre-selected loadout, and fallen enemies drop their gear. There are also 'loot caches' scattered throughout the train that provide better weapons, armor, and healing items. The focus is on quickly acquiring the best possible gear to win the immediate firefight. Due to the fast pace, you won't have much time for extensive looting. Prioritize securing a good weapon and some shield batteries.
