Save System & Progress
Asgard's Wrath 2 employs a robust saving system designed to ensure your progress is always secure, whether you're deep in a dungeon or exploring the vast desert. Understanding how and when the game saves is crucial for a smooth and enjoyable experience.
Automatic Saves
The game features frequent automatic saves, reducing the need for constant manual intervention. These auto-saves occur at key moments:
- Entering New Areas: Whenever you transition between major zones, such as moving from the Sunken City of Akhet to the Dunes of Desolation, an auto-save is triggered.
- Completing Quests: Finishing any main story quest or significant side quest, like the Trial of the Serpent or retrieving the Amulet of Thoth, will initiate an auto-save.
- Reaching Checkpoints: Within dungeons and challenging combat encounters, designated checkpoints will automatically save your progress. Look for the glowing Runes of Preservation on the ground, often found before boss battles or after clearing a particularly difficult room.
- Interacting with Key Objects: Certain important interactions, such as activating a Celestial Gate or opening a Mythic Chest, will also trigger an auto-save.
While auto-saves are reliable, it's always a good practice to be aware of their timing, especially before attempting risky maneuvers or challenging foes.
Manual Saves at Shrines of the All-Father
For players who prefer more control over their save points, Shrines of the All-Father serve as dedicated manual save locations. These ancient altars are scattered throughout the world and are easily identifiable by their distinctive glowing blue aura and the carved symbol of Odin.
Locating Shrines:
- Early Game: You'll find your first Shrine of the All-Father shortly after completing the tutorial in Valhalla's Antechamber, just before entering the Realm of Mortals.
- Hub Areas: Major hub zones like the Oasis of Beginnings and the Great Library of Alexandria each contain at least one easily accessible shrine.
- Dungeon Entrances: Most significant dungeons, such as the Pyramid of Khufu or the Temple of Set, will have a shrine located near their entrance, allowing you to save before venturing inside.
- World Map: Keep an eye on your world map for a small, glowing blue icon indicating the presence of a nearby shrine.
How to Manually Save:
- Approach a Shrine of the All-Father.
- Interact with the shrine using the designated action button (typically 'A' on your controller).
- A menu will appear, allowing you to select an empty save slot or overwrite an existing one. We highly recommend utilizing multiple save slots, especially before major story decisions or challenging boss fights.
- Confirm your selection to save your game.
Strategy Tip: Always make a manual save at a Shrine of the All-Father before confronting a major boss like the Sand Serpent of Kemet or the Guardian of the Underworld. This ensures you can reload and try different strategies without losing significant progress.
Understanding Save Slots
Asgard's Wrath 2 provides multiple save slots, allowing you to maintain different playthroughs or revert to earlier points in your current game. This is invaluable for:
- Experimentation: Want to try a different build for your companion, like evolving Sekhmet into her Primal Huntress form instead of Desert Queen? Save, try it out, and reload if you're not satisfied.
- Missable Content: Some side quests or unique items, such as the Blade of Osiris or the Eye of Horus, might have specific conditions. A separate save can help you backtrack if you miss something.
- Challenging Encounters: If you find yourself stuck on a particularly difficult puzzle or combat sequence, having an earlier save can provide a fresh start without losing hours of exploration.
Regularly managing your save slots will enhance your overall experience and prevent potential frustration.
