Learn how to mine ores like Iron, Thrallenite, Brimidian, and Talenite in Ashen. Discover how to smelt them into ingots and forge various weapons, armor, and tools.

In Ashen, you don't need to be a warrior to progress. This guide covers non-combat skills like Blacksmithing and Mining, detailing the steps and requirements to excel in them.

Mining: To start mining, purchase a Pick Axe. Find a mountain range and use the Pick Axe on it. You may find Iron Ore, or receive messages indicating no useful material or an inability to mine there. Wearing the Miner's Helm increases your mining skill level by 10. At level 30 mining, you can find Thrallenite ore on regular mountains. At level 45, you can mine Brimidian ores, and at level 70, Talenite ores. These special ores are found on red (Brimidian) and black (Talenite) rocks located in Badlands, Hell, and Scorched Island.

Blacksmithing: After mining ores, you need to smelt them into ingots. Go to a blacksmith in town and use a forge. If the forge is cold, double-click the bellows to heat it. Once heated, double-click an ore in your backpack and use it on the forge to smelt it. You will either get ingots or destroy the ore. Smelted ingots can then be used with a Blacksmith Hammer. Double-click the hammer to open a menu and select an item to forge. You might lose ingots, successfully create the item, or lose all your ingots.

Forging Locations: Basic forging can be done at a regular anvil in a blacksmith shop. For +1 and some +2 weapons, use the Anvil of Veldan. For +2 and +3 weapons, use the Obelisk (found in 3 locations). For +4 and +5 weapons, use the Rune Spire, located in Badlands Cave and Hell.
