Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag offers a vast, vibrant world brimming with activities and secrets to uncover long after the credits roll. This section will guide you through maximizing your post-game experience, from completing your collection to conquering the most formidable challenges.

Completing Your Collection

The Caribbean is a treasure trove, and many collectibles remain scattered across its islands and beneath its waves. Dedicate time to tracking down every last item for full synchronization and valuable rewards.

Animus Fragments: These glowing blue shards are often found in hard-to-reach locations in towns and on islands. use your Eagle Vision (press L3/LS) to spot them from a distance. Collecting all fragments contributes to 100% synchronization and unlocks concept art.
Chests: Every island and underwater wreck holds chests filled with Reales, crafting materials, and sometimes even unique plans. Use your map to pinpoint their locations. Remember that some chests are guarded by enemies or require specific parkour routes to access.
Shanties: These musical notes float in the wind and require a quick chase to catch. Successfully grabbing a shanty adds a new song to your crew's repertoire, making your long voyages more enjoyable. Check your map for their distinct icons.
Manuscripts: Found on various islands, these historical documents offer lore and insight into the game's world. Collecting them all provides a deeper understanding of the era.
Mayan Stelae: These ancient stone pillars are found on specific islands. Solving their environmental puzzles (lining up the symbols by rotating the camera) reveals the location of a Mayan Key. Collect all 16 Mayan Keys to unlock the Mayan Outfit, which deflects bullets.
Treasure Maps: Often found in chests or looted from defeated enemies, these maps lead to buried treasure. Follow the coordinates and visual clues on the map to dig up valuable Reales and crafting plans. Some of the most lucrative treasures are found this way.

Upgrading the Jackdaw to Max Potential

Your trusty ship, the Jackdaw, is your lifeline in the Caribbean. Post-game is the perfect time to ensure she's fully upgraded, making naval combat a breeze and allowing you to take on any challenge the seas throw at you.

Elite Upgrades: These are the most powerful enhancements for the Jackdaw and are crucial for tackling Legendary Ships. You'll need to find specific Elite Design Plans located in various underwater wrecks and guarded areas.
- Elite Hull Armor: Found in the San Ignacio Wreck (379, 770).
- Elite Round Shot Strength: Located in the Kabah Ruins (769, 145).
- Elite Broadside Cannons: Discover this plan in the Antocha Wreck (630, 660).
- Elite Heavy Shot Strength: Found in the Misteriosa (307, 195).
- Elite Swivel Guns: Located in the La Concepcion Wreck (181, 296).
- Elite Mortars: This plan is found in the Andreas Island (579, 720) cave system.
- Elite Chase Cannons: Discover this in the Ambergris Key (55, 178) cave.
- Elite Storage: Found in the Devil's Eye Cave (487, 357).
- Elite Harpoon Strength: Located in the Grand Cayman (397, 324) cave.
Resource Gathering: You'll need vast quantities of Metal, Wood, Cloth, and Sugar to purchase all upgrades. Engage in naval combat, plunder enemy ships, and capture warehouses to stock up. Prioritize taking on larger Man O' Wars and Frigates for better resource yields.

Conquering the Legendary Ships

The ultimate naval challenge awaits! There are four Legendary Ships scattered across the map, each offering a unique and incredibly difficult battle. Ensure your Jackdaw has all Elite Upgrades before attempting these.

HMS Prince: Located in the Northeast corner of the map (620, 172). This ship is a formidable Man O' War with powerful broadsides. Strategy: Stay behind it and pepper its stern with heavy shot.
La Dama Negra: Found in the Southeast (204, 607). This ship is heavily armored and constantly bombards you with mortars. Strategy: Get close to avoid its mortar fire and use chain shot to disable its sails, then unleash your broadsides.
El Impoluto: Located in the Northwest (181, 101). This agile ship charges head-on and uses a ramming attack. Strategy: Use your swivel guns to target its weak points after it charges, and be prepared to brace for impact.
Brothers-in-Arms (HMS Fearless & HMS Defiance): Found in the Southwest (871, 808). This is a dual battle against two powerful frigates. Strategy: Focus fire on one ship to sink it quickly, then deal with the other. Use your mortars to damage both simultaneously if they stay close.

Defeating all Legendary Ships rewards you with a significant amount of Reales and the "Devil of the Caribbean" achievement/trophy.

Hunting and Crafting

Beyond the main story, you can continue to hunt exotic animals on land and sea to craft all remaining upgrades for Edward's equipment. This includes health upgrades, ammo pouches, and cosmetic outfits.

Rare Animals: Track down elusive creatures like the White Jaguar (Great Inagua), Red Howler Monkey (Punta Guarico), and White Whale (random spawn in open sea). Use your map to identify hunting grounds.
Shark Hunting: Harpooning sharks and other marine life is a great way to earn money and obtain crafting materials. Upgrade your Harpoon Strength and Storage for maximum efficiency.
Crafting Menu: Access the crafting menu from the pause screen to see what materials you still need for each upgrade. Prioritize health and combat-related upgrades first.

Naval Contracts and Assassin Contracts

These repeatable missions offer continuous engagement and Reales. They are excellent ways to hone your combat skills and explore more of the world.

Naval Contracts: Found in various taverns, these missions involve sinking specific enemy ships or convoys. They scale in difficulty and reward.
Assassin Contracts: Pick these up from Pigeon Coops in major cities. They involve stealthily eliminating targets and often require careful planning and execution.

Exploring Uncharted Waters

Even after completing the main story, there might be islands, underwater wrecks, or small coves you haven't fully explored. Take the time to sail the entire map, uncovering every last secret and synchronization point.

Synchronization Points: Climb every viewpoint to reveal more of the map and unlock fast travel locations.
Underwater Wrecks: Dive into every wreck you find. They often contain valuable chests, Animus Fragments, and Elite Design Plans. Be mindful of sharks and moray eels!
Smuggler's Dens: Discover these hidden locations, often marked by a small cave icon on your map, for additional chests and resources.
