On Foot Controls:

• You can change your Look axis to inverted if that is your preference.

Introduction to Single Player (Hard Difficulty):

This walkthrough is conducted on “hard” difficulty, which means less cover (press the cover button to crouch behind walls or objects) (objects that provide protection from enemy fire) and less ammo are available, and you take more damage. The respawn (be brought back to life at a checkpoint after death) (where you reappear after dying) system differs from previous games; in Battlefield 2, if you die, you restart at the last checkpoint (an auto-save point you restart from on death) (a designated save point) and enemies respawn with you, increasing the challenge.

Operation Aurora - Section 1: Rendezvous with Japanese Defector

Objective: Secure Safe Passage to Rendezvous Point

Follow your squad across the river and up the hill. Your squadmate will provide you with a weapon. Continue following your squadmate. You will encounter Japanese soldiers; ensure they are eliminated as they may appear to be incapacitated but can still attack. You can pick up the Type 97 Japanese rifle, which has one-hit-kill power and accuracy, but may be difficult to use if you are unfamiliar with World War II-style shooters. Ascend the rope ladder and continue following your squad until a cutscene (a non-interactive cinematic the game plays automatically) (an in-game cinematic event) plays. After the cutscene, eliminate any remaining enemy soldiers.

Operation Aurora - Section 2: Find a Transport

Objective: Follow unit to airfield

Follow your squadmates up the hill to the road.

Throw a grenade at the approaching enemies and run across the street once it detonates. Find cover near a building and eliminate any hostiles. Your squadmates will assist with any remaining enemies. Once clear, enter the jeep.

Use the mounted .30 caliber machine gun to eliminate enemy soldiers. When enemy jeeps appear, prioritize their gunners before targeting the vehicles themselves. Eliminate RPG-wielding enemies as a high priority.

Operation Aurora - Section 3: Escape the Island

Objective: Find Subpen Location.

Be aware of a machine gun nest around the corner and potential enemy ambushes. A quick trigger finger is advised.
