Battlefield 3 is renowned for its multiplayer, featuring expansive maps and diverse modes, alongside impressive graphics. The combat is a core element, with a wide array of weapons, each offering a unique feel in terms of destructive power, range, stability, and fire rate.

1. Prone: Essential for survival. Going prone allows you to hide behind small objects, makes you less visible to enemies, and is required for using bipods on certain weapons. Utilize it frequently.
2. Cover: As important as going prone. Always scout for cover upon entering new areas. Positions under buses, behind walls, cars, or even piles of trash offer protection. You can stand, crouch, or prone behind cover. While walls can be destroyed by heavy fire, they still offer temporary protection, and you can go prone behind the remnants.
3. Vigilance: Enemies can be anywhere and are numerous. Stay alert, especially on higher difficulties. Listen and look carefully, as enemies may be hidden and can kill you quickly. Shotgunners, in particular, can be lethal with a single shot and may be around the next corner. Always stay near or behind cover.
4. Aiming: Make it a habit to aim down the sights (right-click mouse). This is crucial for realistic shooting and is how professionals engage targets. Weapons like some .3 or .5 caliber rifles offer zoom when aiming down sights, improving accuracy.
5. The Meaning of "Follow": Throughout the campaign, when prompted to follow an NPC marked with "follow" on screen, do so. This allows you to experience the game as the developers intended, witnessing more dramatic moments and understanding the narrative better, rather than rushing ahead blindly.
6. Moving Cover to Cover: When needing to move between positions under fire, sprint. Avoid slow movement like walking or crawling unless absolutely necessary.
