Getting Started

Welcome to your new life as a government-appointed landlord in Beholder: Conductor. Your initial tasks involve familiarizing yourself with Apartment Block 6 and understanding the Ministry's expectations. Your first objective is to install surveillance equipment and report any suspicious activity, all while managing your family's needs.

Upon arrival at Apartment Block 6, you will be greeted by the Ministry representative who outlines your duties. Your immediate priorities are:

  1. Report to the Ministry: Interact with the Ministry terminal in your apartment to receive your first set of directives. These typically involve observing specific tenants or installing surveillance.
  2. Familiarize Yourself with Your Apartment (Apartment 0): This is your base of operations. It contains your bed (for saving and resting), your family, and the Ministry terminal.
  3. Learn Basic Controls:
    • Movement: Use WASD or arrow keys.
    • Interaction: Left-click on objects or characters.
    • Inventory: Press 'I' to open your inventory.
    • Journal/Tasks: Press 'J' to view your current objectives and completed tasks.
    • Stealth Mode: Press 'C' to crouch, reducing your visibility and noise. Essential for covert operations.
  4. Install Your First Camera: The Ministry will provide you with a camera. Your first task will likely be to install it in a designated tenant's apartment, such as the one belonging to the Khushnudinovs (Apartment 1). To do this:
    • Wait until the tenant is out or asleep.
    • Pick the lock on their door (if necessary, using a lockpick from your inventory).
    • Enter the apartment and locate a suitable spot (e.g., a bookshelf, a wall).
    • Open your inventory, select the camera, and click on the desired installation spot.
    • Exit the apartment discreetly.
  5. Observe and Report: Once the camera is installed, monitor the tenant's activities via your Ministry terminal. Look for prohibited items or illegal actions. When you find evidence, use the terminal to file a report.
  6. Manage Your Family: Your wife and children have needs (food, medicine, school fees). Neglecting them can lead to negative consequences. Check their status regularly and earn money to provide for them. Early on, this often means selling contraband or completing Ministry tasks for rewards.

The game's tutorial phase is integrated into these initial tasks, guiding you through the mechanics of surveillance, reporting, and basic resource management. Pay close attention to the Ministry's directives and the needs of your family, as these will form the core of your gameplay experience.
