Objective: Defeat the Guardian of the Whispering Woods.

Beyond the shrine, a large, moss-covered beast known as the 'Guardian of the Whispering Woods' blocks your path. This is your first major boss encounter.

Phase 1: Ground Attacks

  • Slam Attack: The Guardian will raise a massive fist and slam it down. This is slow and easily dodged or parried. A successful parry leaves it vulnerable for a few hits.
  • Swipe Combo: A two-hit swipe. The first hit can be blocked, the second is often delayed. Dodge through both or parry the second for a larger opening.
  • Root Spikes: The Guardian will occasionally stomp, causing roots to erupt from the ground in a line towards you. Dodge sideways to avoid.

Phase 2: Enraged State (Below 50% HP)

The Guardian will glow red and become more aggressive.

  • Leap Attack: It will leap into the air and crash down. Dodge just as it begins its descent.
  • Roar & Stun: A powerful roar that can stun you if you're too close. Create distance or block.
  • Enhanced Combos: Its ground attacks become faster and may have an extra hit. Be more cautious with your parry timings.

Strategy: Focus on learning its attack patterns. Prioritize dodging its unblockable attacks (Leap, Root Spikes) and parrying its slower, more telegraphed slams. After a successful parry or dodging a heavy attack, get in 2-3 light hits, then prepare to defend again. Don't get greedy. Use your healing gourds when your health drops below 50%. This boss is a test of patience and timing.

Reward: 'Guardian's Heart' (Crafting Material), 500 Essence, unlocks 'Staff Extension' magic skill.
