Wolf Enemies & Combat Tips — Black Myth: Wukong Guide

The initial wolf enemies, such as the Wolf Scout and Wolf Swornsword, are ideal for practicing combat mechanics due to their relatively slow, extended sword swings. These provide ample opportunity to dodge and execute light combo attacks. Mastering heavy attacks and the Focus bar is crucial; landing heavy attacks fills the Focus bar, earning Focus Points to integrate powerful heavy attacks into light combos.

You will now assume control of the Destined One, beginning in the forest. A cutscene unfolds where two lesser Wolf Guais attempt to grab a peach, only to discover that it’s actually the Destined One in disguise. These basic enemies, the Wolf Scout and Wolf Swornsword, are ideal for testing out the combat mechanics of the game. Their attacks are relatively slow as they tend to extend their sword swings, giving you plenty of time to dodge their attacks while executing light combo attacks.

When you encounter the next Wolf Scout, you'll be prompted to use a Heavy Attack. The more Heavy Attacks you land, the more your Focus bar grows, which you'll see in the bottom right corner as it fills up. Once the Focus bar is full, you'll earn a Focus Point, allowing you to incorporate Heavy Attacks into your Light Attack combos for increased damage. While you can still perform Heavy Attacks on their own, they will be less effective without a Focus Point and cannot be combined with Light Attacks in a combo. However, you can still charge your Focus by holding the Heavy Attack button and releasing it will deliver a powerful attack, especially effective against slow or unsuspecting enemies. Focus doesn’t decrease with Light Attacks, but it does accumulate over time.
