Enemy Bestiary (Main Game)

Welcome, good Hunter, to the comprehensive bestiary of Yharnam's most common and terrifying inhabitants. This section will detail strategies, weaknesses, and notable drops for the various foes you'll encounter throughout the main game. Understanding your enemies is key to survival in this accursed city.

Central Yharnam

Scourge Beast (Werewolf)

  • Location: First encountered on the Great Bridge leading to the Cleric Beast, and later in various districts.
  • Strategy:
    • These aggressive foes are fast and hit hard. Their attacks often come in quick, sweeping combos.
    • use your pistol for parries. A well-timed shot during their attack animation will stagger them, allowing for a visceral attack. This is extremely effective.
    • If you miss the parry, dodge *into* their attacks to get behind them for a few quick hits.
    • They are susceptible to fire. Using Molotov Cocktails or a weapon with fire paper applied can significantly speed up the fight.
  • Notable Drops: Blood Vials, Quicksilver Bullets, sometimes Blood Stone Shards.

Huntsman (Villager)

  • Location: Ubiquitous throughout Central Yharnam, often found in groups.
  • Strategy:
    • These come in several variants: torch-wielding, pitchfork-wielding, and cleaver-wielding.
    • Torch/Pitchfork: Easily dispatched. Prioritize these to reduce incoming damage from groups. A charged R2 attack can often stagger or knock them down.
    • Cleaver: More dangerous, capable of quick, damaging combos. They can also perform a charge attack. Parry these with your firearm for easy visceral attacks.
    • When facing groups, try to draw them out one by one if possible. If not, use wide-sweeping attacks (e.g., transformed Saw Cleaver/Hunter Axe) to hit multiple targets.
  • Notable Drops: Blood Vials, Quicksilver Bullets.

Large Huntsman (Brick Troll)

  • Location: Prominently featured in Central Yharnam, often guarding key pathways or items.
  • Strategy:
    • These imposing figures wield large bricks or axes and have significant health and damage output.
    • Their attacks are slow but have wide arcs. This makes them relatively easy to parry with your firearm. Wait for their weapon to be at the peak of its swing before firing.
    • Alternatively, dodge *through* their attacks to get behind them and unleash a charged R2 followed by a visceral attack.
    • They are vulnerable to being stunned by repeated attacks to the head, opening them up for a visceral attack even without a parry.
  • Notable Drops: Blood Vials, Quicksilver Bullets, sometimes Blood Stone Shards.

Carrion Crow

  • Location: Found in various areas, often near corpses or in dark corners.
  • Strategy:
    • These birds are quick and can peck relentlessly. They often appear in groups.
    • Their attacks are low to the ground, making them difficult to parry.
    • The best strategy is to use wide-sweeping attacks or a quick R1 combo to dispatch them before they can overwhelm you.
    • Be wary of their dive-bomb attack if you're at a distance.
  • Notable Drops: Blood Vials.

Cathedral Ward

Church Giant

  • Location: Found guarding the entrance to the Grand Cathedral and other significant areas within the Cathedral Ward.
  • Strategy:
    • These massive, cloaked figures wield either a large axe or a mace. They are slow but incredibly powerful.
    • Axe Variant: Their swings are wide and can be parried. Aim for a parry when the axe is mid-swing. They also have a ground slam that creates a shockwave.
    • Mace Variant: Similar to the axe, their mace swings are parriable. They also have a devastating overhead smash.
    • The most consistent strategy is to get behind them. Their back is a significant weak point. Dodge through their legs or around their attacks to reach their back, then unleash charged R2s and visceral attacks.
    • Be cautious of their roar, which can stagger you.
  • Notable Drops: Blood Vials, Quicksilver Bullets, Twin Blood Stone Shards.

Wheelchair Mob

  • Location: Often found in secluded areas or guarding specific items in the Cathedral Ward.
  • Strategy:
    • These seemingly harmless enemies are deceptively dangerous, wielding either a blunderbuss or a gatling gun.
    • Blunderbuss: They fire a wide spread of pellets. Dodge to the side as they raise their weapon. They are very vulnerable to a quick rush and attack.
    • Gatling Gun: Extremely dangerous at range. They will unleash a sustained burst of fire that can quickly deplete your health. Prioritize closing the distance immediately. Once you're close, they are easily staggered and killed.
    • Always approach these enemies with caution and be ready to dodge or sprint.
  • Notable Drops: Quicksilver Bullets, sometimes Blood Vials.
