Braid's controls are deceptively simple, yet mastering them is key to solving its intricate puzzles. Tim can move left and right, jump, and interact with objects. The most important mechanic, however, is time manipulation. You can rewind time at any point, which is essential for correcting mistakes, solving puzzles, and even creating new opportunities. There's no 'game over' in Braid; every death is simply an invitation to rewind and try again. Experiment with rewinding to understand its full potential.

Controls & Basic Mechanics
  • Left/Right Arrow Keys or A/D: Move Tim left or right.
  • Up Arrow Key or W: Jump. Hold to jump higher.
  • Spacebar or Shift: Rewind time. Hold to rewind faster.
  • E or Enter: Interact with objects (e.g., doors, levers, puzzle pieces).
  • Esc: Pause menu.

Understanding how time affects enemies and environmental elements is also vital. Most enemies rewind with you, but some objects, like certain platforms or falling debris, are unaffected by your personal time manipulation, creating unique puzzle scenarios.
