Armor Plate Management
Effective armor plate management is paramount to survival in the unforgiving landscapes of Warzone. Understanding how to acquire, utilize, and prioritize your plates can be the difference between a triumphant victory and an early trip to the Gulag.
Acquisition Strategies
Maintaining a healthy stock of Armor Plates is crucial. Here's how to keep your plate carrier full:
- Looting: This is your primary method. Armor Plates are common ground loot, found in various locations:
- Supply Boxes: Both standard and legendary supply boxes frequently contain Armor Plates. Prioritize opening these, especially in the early game.
- Fallen Enemies: Always loot enemy players you eliminate. They often carry a significant amount of plates, especially if they've just been in a fight.
- Scattered on the Ground: Keep an eye out for individual plates lying around, particularly in high-traffic areas or after skirmishes.
- Buy Stations: The most reliable way to stock up. For a cost of $300 per Armor Plate Bundle (3 plates), you can quickly replenish your reserves.
- Strategic Purchases: Always aim to have enough cash for at least one bundle, especially before pushing a strong position or entering the late game.
- Team Purchases: If a teammate has excess cash, encourage them to buy plates for the squad.
- Contracts: Completing contracts can reward you with cash, which can then be used at Buy Stations for plates.
- Scavenger Contracts: These are excellent for early-game plate acquisition, as they guide you to multiple supply boxes.
- Supply Run Contracts: Offer a discounted Buy Station, making plate purchases more economical.
Effective Plate Usage
Knowing when and how to apply your Armor Plates can save your life:
- Prioritize Full Plates: Always aim to have your plate carrier fully stacked (typically 3 plates). Each plate provides a significant health buffer.
- Plate Up During Downtime: If you've taken damage, immediately find cover and begin plating. The animation takes a few seconds, leaving you vulnerable.
- Behind Cover: Utilize natural cover like rocks, buildings, or even vehicles to shield yourself while plating.
- Smoke Grenades: A well-placed Smoke Grenade can provide crucial visual cover for plating in open areas.
- The "One Plate" Rule: If you're only missing one plate, consider whether the immediate threat warrants using a full plate animation. Sometimes it's better to save the animation for when you're missing more armor, or if you're about to re-engage.
- Armor Box Field Upgrade: This rare Field Upgrade instantly provides armor plates to you and your teammates. Deploy it strategically during intense firefights or when your squad is low on plates.
Advanced Plate Management Tips
- Inventory Management: While you can carry a maximum of 8 Armor Plates in your inventory (plus the 3 equipped), consider dropping excess plates for teammates who are low, especially if you're near a Buy Station.
- Audio Cues: Pay attention to the distinct sound of enemies plating up. This can give you a window to push them while they are vulnerable.
- "Plating Up" Callouts: Communicate with your squad when you are plating. This informs them of your temporary vulnerability and allows them to provide cover or adjust their strategy.
- Stronghold Rewards: Successfully clearing a Stronghold often rewards your squad with high-tier loot, including a significant amount of Armor Plates and even an Armor Box. These are excellent mid-game objectives for resupplying.
