How to Beat Giant Bat

Defeat the Giant Bat in Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia. Master positioning and Glyph usage against this Ruvas Forest boss.

·Multi-source verified (36/36)

The Giant Bat is the first major boss encounter in Ruvas Forest. It serves as an essential test of your positioning and Glyph management. The boss primarily attacks by swooping in wide arcs to ram Shanoa or firing small sonic projectiles. Its primary weakness is its head, which stays exposed during its lower flight paths.

For optimal damage, equip the Confodere (Rapier) and Ignis (Fire) Glyphs. While the Rapier provides quick strikes, the Ignis/Confodere Glyph Union is your most potent tool here; by pressing Up + Attack, Shanoa summons a massive flaming blade that deals significant burst damage, capable of ending the fight much faster. If using standard Ignis fireballs, stand approximately two character-widths away during the Bat's hover phase; this ensures all three fire trails connect with its large hitbox as they fan out.

Stay mobile and use your backdash (L button) to retreat when it prepares a dive. When the Bat swoops low, jump and strike the head with Confodere or unleash the Glyph Union. Upon defeat, you will gain a significant experience boost and unlock the path to the Kalidus Channel.
