So, you've stumbled upon the Inverted Castle in Castlevania: Rondo of Blood? Don't worry, this guide breaks down this upside-down world and how to navigate it.

The Inverted Castle: A Whole New World (Upside Down!)

Alright, so you've made it through the main castle, and now things are getting *really* interesting. You've likely heard whispers of the 'Inverted Castle' or 'Reverse Castle,' and yep, it's a real thing! Think of it as Dracula's Castle turned on its head, literally. This isn't just a visual gag; it's a whole new area with different layouts, enemies, music, and even some new items to find.

You'll end up here if you manage to free Richter Belmont from Shaft's control instead of just defeating Shaft himself. This means you'll need to have found a bunch of hidden items scattered throughout the normal castle first. Pretty neat, huh?

What's Different?

Everything! The map starts at the bottom in the 'Reverse Keep,' and you can actually explore beyond 100% map completion here. You'll find Teleport Rooms, but they won't connect back to the old castle's teleporters. Be careful: if you only find one, using it will just send you back to where you already are – no free rides!

Some things you might have taken for granted in the normal castle are gone or unusable here. That elevator? The telescope in the Outer Wall? The confessional? Nope, not working here. On the flip side, many paths that were blocked in the regular castle are now wide open. Just watch out for those breakable walls – they're still around and hiding their own secrets!

The Big Quest

Inside the Reverse Castle, you'll need to channel your inner Simon Belmont. You'll be on the hunt for Dracula's five body parts (they act as Relics in this game). Once you've collected them all, you'll need to head to the Reverse Castle Center. There, you'll face Shaft again, and after that, it's time for the final showdown with Dracula himself. Succeed here, and you'll be on your way to one of the good endings!

Getting Back and Forth

You can travel between the normal castle and the Reverse Castle using the chamber at the top of Castle Keep. There's a corresponding spot in the Reverse Castle for this. If you snag a Magical Ticket in the Reverse Castle, you can even warp to the Long Library in the normal castle. Just remember, there's no way to go from the normal castle *to* the Long Library using that trick.

Areas to Explore

The Reverse Castle is a mirror image of the normal castle, but flipped. Here are the areas you'll be exploring:

  • Reverse Keep
  • Reverse Clock Tower
  • Reverse Outer Wall
  • Forbidden Library
  • Black Marble Gallery
  • Cave
  • Floating Catacombs
  • Reverse Caverns
  • Reverse Entrance
  • Necromancy Laboratory
  • Anti-Chapel
  • Reverse Colosseum
  • Death Wing's Lair
  • Reverse Castle Center

And if you're playing the Saturn version, you'll also find:

  • Soul Prison
  • Hell Garden

It's a lot to take in, but don't worry, we'll get through it together. Just take it one step at a time!
