Traits & Education
Traits are the fundamental building blocks of your character in Crusader Kings III, shaping their personality, skills, and how they interact with the world. Education, on the other hand, is a crucial process that influences the development of your children and wards, directly impacting their future capabilities.
Acquiring Traits
Traits can be acquired in several ways:
- Genetics: Many traits are inherited from parents. For example, a child born to parents with high Intelligence traits is more likely to inherit them.
- Events: Random events can present choices that lead to the acquisition or loss of traits. These can range from minor personality quirks to significant shifts in character.
- Lifestyle Perks: Certain lifestyle perks can grant permanent traits or modify existing ones.
- Education: The education outcome for your children is heavily influenced by their guardian's skills and traits, and the education focus chosen. A good guardian can impart positive traits, while a poor one might lead to negative outcomes.
- Actions: Specific actions, such as engaging in certain schemes or participating in tournaments, can also lead to trait acquisition.
Education System
When a child reaches the age of six, you can ass them an education focus. This focus, combined with the guardian's skills and traits, will determine the child's education outcome. The education system aims to produce a specific "Education Trait" at the age of sixteen, ranging from Level 1 to Level 4. Higher levels provide greater bonuses to the relevant skill.
- Martial Education: Focuses on combat and military leadership.
- Diplomacy Education: Develops diplomatic prowess and courtly skills.
- Stewardship Education: Enhances realm management and economic skills.
- Intrigue Education: Cultivates cunning, subterfuge, and espionage.
- Learning Education: Promotes knowledge, technology, and faith.
It's crucial to select a guardian with high skills in the chosen education focus and ideally, positive traits that will be passed down. For instance, a child receiving a Martial education would benefit greatly from a guardian with high Martial skill and traits like "Brave" or "Strategist." Conversely, a guardian with negative traits might hinder the education process.
