Father Ariandel and Sister Friede (DLC - Included in this section for progression)
While Sister Friede is a boss from the Ashes of Ariandel DLC, we're including her here due to her unique role in the lore and the fact that many players encounter the DLC content around this point in their main game progression. Defeating her and Father Ariandel is a significant undertaking, often considered one of the toughest challenges in the entire game. This fight is a three-phase gauntlet, testing your endurance, parry timing, and ability to adapt.
Phase 1: Sister Friede
- Friede is quick and relies on invisibility and frost attacks.
- Listen for her footsteps when she disappears to pinpoint her location.
- Parrying is highly effective against her scythe attacks. A successful parry and critical hit can significantly shorten this phase.
- Stay aggressive but be mindful of her frost AoE attacks.
Phase 2: Father Ariandel and Sister Friede
- Focus your damage on Father Ariandel. He is slower and more susceptible to stagger.
- Friede will cast healing spells on Ariandel; interrupt these if possible.
- Utilize fire damage against Ariandel, as he is particularly weak to it.
- Keep both bosses in your line of sight to avoid surprise attacks.
Phase 3: Blackflame Friede
- This is the most challenging phase. Friede gains new, powerful Blackflame attacks and becomes even more aggressive.
- Her new combos are long and devastating. Learn to dodge through them rather than away.
- The timing for parries is still present but riskier due to her increased aggression.
- Consider using a summon (Gael is available near the boss fog) to draw aggro and create openings.
- Patience and careful dodging are key to surviving her relentless assault.
