Efficient resource management in Dead Space (Remake) is crucial for survival, especially when upgrading weapons and purchasing essential items. Prioritize buying weapon upgrades that offer free Power Nodes, and strategically manage power in areas like the Southern Refueling Station to conserve resources or maintain life support.
When in Chapter 3, "Course Correction," after collecting the Ripper, new weapon upgrades become available at the Store in the Control Room. These include the Ricochet Tracer for the Ripper, Heat Accumulator for the Plasma Cutter, and Kinetic Auto Loader for the Pulse Rifle. Each upgrade costs 11,000 Credits. Purchasing all three provides a bonus of 3 free Power Nodes. Specifically, bringing the Heat Accumulator to an Upgrade Bench (found on the way to the Decontamination Room or in the Machine Shop) grants a free Power Node.
In the Southern Refueling Station during Chapter 3, you face a critical decision with the Circuit Breaker: turn off life support or the lights. Choosing to turn off life support means the Refueling Control Stations will permanently lack air unless you return via gondola to switch off the lights instead. This gondola trip takes at least 45 seconds, so consider the implications of your choice for resource use and safety.
