Throughout the narrator's letters, other figures are mentioned: Donnelly, a cartographer or explorer; Paul, possibly involved in a car accident; and a shepherd, a more mythical or symbolic presence. These characters are never seen, only spoken of, and their roles in the overarching narrative are often contradictory and confusing. They serve to deepen the mystery and add layers of potential meaning to the narrator's fragmented memories. Their 'builds' are entirely conceptual, existing only within the narrator's unreliable recollections and the player's interpretation. They are pieces of a larger, broken puzzle.
