Dominus Ghaul Strategy
Dominus Ghaul, the imposing Red Legion commander, returns in the 2026 Expansion as a formidable boss encounter, demanding a coordinated and strategic approach from fireteams. The fight takes place within the repurposed ruins of the City's Tower, now a twisted monument to his past conquest. Ghaul's primary threat lies in his immense resilience and his ability to wield the Light, albeit in a corrupted form. He uses a powerful Cabal energy shield that must be depleted before significant damage can be dealt to his health bar.
The encounter is divided into several phases. Initially, Ghaul will employ several Cabal weaponry, including his signature Siegebreaker Gauntlets, capable of unleashing devastating solar blasts. During this phase, the fireteam must focus on breaking his shield. This is best achieved by using high-damage kinetic weapons and coordinated ability usage. Weapons like the "The Lament" exotic sword, with its revved-up attacks, can quickly chip away at the shield. Additionally, Void subclass abilities, such as the Hunter's "Shadowshot: Deadfall," can suppress Ghaul's abilities and briefly stun him, creating openings for damage. It is crucial to manage the adds that spawn throughout the arena, as they can quickly overwhelm a team that is solely focused on the boss.
As Ghaul's shield breaks, he will enter a vulnerable state, allowing Guardians to deal direct damage. This is the critical phase where sustained weapon fire and Super abilities should be unleashed. Titans can use their "Ward of Dawn" to provide a safe zone for damage, while Warlocks might opt for a "Well of Radiance" to amplify their team's damage output. A common mistake is to waste Super abilities when Ghaul is shielded. Patience and timing are key. After a period of vulnerability, Ghaul will regenerate his shield and the cycle repeats. The final phase of the encounter involves Ghaul channeling the Light of the Traveler, manifesting as a powerful beam attack that sweeps across the arena. Guardians must take cover behind the scattered debris or use their class abilities to dodge this devastating attack. Successfully defeating Ghaul requires consistent DPS during his vulnerable phases and impeccable crowd control of the adds.
