Panoptes, Infinite Mind Strategy
Panoptes, Infinite Mind, the Vex consciousness that governs the Infinite Forest, presents a unique and mind-bending boss encounter in the 2026 Expansion. This fight is less about brute force and more about understanding and manipulating the Vex's temporal and spatial distortions. Panoptes itself is not directly fought; instead, Guardians must disable its core processing units scattered throughout a dynamically shifting arena within the Infinite Forest.
The arena is a labyrinth of Vex architecture that constantly reconfigures itself. Panoptes will spawn "Vex Harpies" and "Vex Minotaurs" in waves, but its primary threat comes from its ability to manipulate time and space. It can create temporal duplicates of Guardians, forcing players to distinguish between the real Guardian and their phantom counterparts. These duplicates cannot deal damage but can draw aggro and obscure vision. Additionally, Panoptes can create localized "time dilation fields," slowing down any Guardian caught within them to a crawl, making them vulnerable to Vex attacks. The objective is to locate and destroy three "Chronal Conduits" that power Panoptes. These conduits are protected by Vex defenses and are often located in hard-to-reach areas that require precise platforming.
A key mechanic to master is the "Temporal Anchor." Guardians can deploy these anchors at specific points in the arena. When activated, a Temporal Anchor will revert the immediate area to a previous state, useful for bypassing newly formed Vex barriers or re-accessing platforms that have shifted away. Weapons that deal rapid damage, such as SMGs like the "IKELOS_SMG_v1.0.3" or pulse rifles, are effective against the Vex adds. However, for destroying the Chronal Conduits, heavy weapons or coordinated Super usage is recommended. For instance, a Warlock's "Nova Bomb" can clear out a cluster of Vex guarding a conduit, while a Titan's "Thundercrash" can deal significant damage to the conduit itself. Communication is paramount; calling out the location of conduits, temporal duplicates, and time dilation fields will significantly increase your fireteam's success rate. Failing to destroy a conduit within a set time limit will cause Panoptes to reset the arena, forcing the fireteam to start the conduit destruction phase anew.
