Taniks, the Abomination Strategy
Taniks, the Abomination, a recurring antagonist, returns in the 2026 Expansion with a formidable presence, likely within the Deep Stone Crypt raid. This encounter tests a fireteam's ability to manage multiple threats, coordinate movement, and execute a precise damage strategy. Taniks himself is a heavily armored Kell, capable of unleashing devastating attacks and using his signature weaponry.
The fight typically begins with Guardians needing to secure key locations within the Crypt. Taniks will employ several attacks, including his iconic Arc-infused weaponry and powerful melee strikes. A crucial mechanic involves Taniks's ability to deploy a "Suppression Field" that hinders Guardian abilities. To counter this, specific Guardians will need to activate "Security Terminals" to disable the field. Failure to do so will make the encounter significantly more challenging. During this phase, prioritize clearing the various Fallen enemies, including Vandals and Captains, that Taniks summons to support him.
The damage phase for Taniks is often initiated after successfully disabling his defenses and surviving his onslaught. During this window, Guardians should focus their sustained fire on Taniks. Weapons that excel in sustained damage, such as machine guns or auto rifles, can be very effective. Consider using subclasses that provide damage buffs or debuffs. For instance, a Hunter using Tether can significantly increase the damage dealt to Taniks. A common mistake is neglecting the adds that spawn during the damage phase, which can quickly overwhelm a team focused solely on the boss. Another pitfall is failing to coordinate the activation of the Security Terminals, leading to prolonged periods of vulnerability. Mastering the timing of the terminal activations and the add clear is essential for a swift victory. The use of Stasis abilities to freeze or slow down Taniks and his minions can also provide valuable breathing room for your team.
