Transmat & Fast Travel
The Transmat system remains a cornerstone of efficient travel within Destiny 2's expansive universe, and the 2026 Expansion introduces new destinations and refinements. Your Ghost, a constant companion, is the key to initiating Transmat sequences. By accessing your Ghost's interface, you can select from a list of unlocked destinations and landing zones. The Tower remains the primary hub, but new landing zones have been established on Xylos and Cygnus X-1, allowing for direct access to the new social hubs and quest areas. Each landing zone is marked on your Director map with a distinct icon, indicating its accessibility via Transmat.
Fast travel between these zones is instantaneous once you've landed at a Transmat location. However, travel within a zone is often done on foot or using your Sparrows. The new "Temporal Rifts" mechanic, introduced in this expansion, acts as a localized fast travel system within certain mission areas. These rifts, often found near objectives or points of interest, allow for rapid repositioning. For example, after defeating the three "Chronal Guardians" in the "Whispering Sands" mission on Xylos, a Temporal Rift might activate, allowing you to instantly travel to the next encounter area, saving valuable time. Be aware that some areas may have Transmat restrictions, particularly during specific story missions or high-stakes encounters, forcing you to rely on more traditional traversal methods. The cost of Transmatting to a new zone is typically negligible, often requiring only a small amount of Glimmer, though certain high-level activities might have unique Transmat requirements or limitations.
