Starting out in Destiny 2 can be a lot, but these tips will help you hit the ground running:
- Don't be afraid to experiment: Try different weapons, armor, and subclass abilities. Find what feels good to you.
- Complete the New Light campaign: This introductory questline will teach you the basics and guide you through the Cosmodrome.
- Pick up bounties: Visit vendors like Zavala, Shaxx, and the Drifter to pick up daily and weekly bounties. These grant XP, Glimmer, and sometimes powerful gear.
- Join a Fireteam: Destiny 2 is best played with others. Use in-game matchmaking for Strikes and Crucible, or find a clan/friends for more challenging content.
- Explore Lost Sectors: These mini-dungeons are found on every destination and offer loot and a quick challenge.
- Participate in Public Events: These pop up regularly in patrol zones. Join in for XP and loot. Make them 'Heroic' for better rewards.
- Manage your inventory: Don't hoard low-Power gear. Dismantle it for Glimmer and materials. Use the Destiny 2 Companion App or third-party tools like DIM (Destiny Item Manager) for easier inventory management.
- Focus on Power Level: In the early game, always equip the highest Power Level gear you find, regardless of its perks, to quickly increase your overall Power.
- Learn about Mods: Once you start getting Legendary armor, learn about Armor Mods. These significantly enhance your abilities and stats.
