Destiny 2 Character Creation Guide
Begin your Guardian journey by creating your unique character in Destiny 2. This guide covers the essential choices you'll make during character creation, from choosing your race and class to customizing your appearance.
Character creation in Destiny 2 is your first step into the vast universe of the game. It's where you define your Guardian's identity, choosing their race, class, and appearance. While the visual customization is primarily aesthetic, your choice of class significantly impacts your gameplay style, abilities, and how you approach combat. Understanding the strengths and weaknesses of each class will help you make an informed decision that suits your preferred playstyle.
Choosing Your Race
Destiny 2 features three playable races, each with a distinct aesthetic and lore background, but no gameplay advantages:
- Human: The most common race, representing the resilient survivors of Earth's collapse. They have a familiar, grounded appearance.
- Awoken: A mysterious race born from a collision between the Traveler and the Darkness. They possess an ethereal, otherworldly beauty and a deep connection to the cosmic forces.
- Exo: Advanced robotic beings who have lost their memories and are constantly seeking to understand their past. They have a distinct mechanical appearance.
Your race choice is purely cosmetic and does not affect your character's stats or abilities.
Choosing Your Class
Your class is the most crucial decision during character creation, as it determines your abilities, Super, and overall combat role. There are three distinct classes, each with three subclasses that further specialize their powers:
1. Titan
Titans are the stoic defenders of humanity, known for their resilience, strength, and ability to control the battlefield. They excel in close-quarters combat and protecting their allies.
- Solar (Sunbreaker): Wields the power of the sun for explosive attacks and fiery hammers. Their Super is the 'Hammer of Sol.'
- Arc (Striker): Channels electrical energy for devastating melee attacks and lightning-based abilities. Their Super is the 'Fist of Havoc.'
- Void (Sentinel): Commands the power of the Void to create protective barriers and unleash suppressing energy. Their Super is the 'Ward of Dawn' (a defensive bubble) or 'Doom of Athena' (a shield throw).
2. Hunter
Hunters are agile and resourceful warriors, specializing in precision, stealth, and swift takedowns. They are often scouts and assassins.
- Solar (Gunslinger): Masters of precision gunplay and explosive projectiles. Their Super is the 'Golden Gun' or 'Blade Barrage.'
- Arc (Arcstrider): Wields lightning for rapid melee strikes and evasive maneuvers. Their Super is the 'Arc Staff.'
- Void (Nightstalker): uses the Void to become invisible, ensnare enemies with suppressing abilities, and unleash spectral arrows. Their Super is the 'Shadowshot.'
3. Warlock
Warlocks are scholars and mystics who harness the power of the Traveler and the Darkness through intense study and willpower. They are powerful spellcasters and support units.
- Solar (Dawnblade): Commands solar flames to unleash devastating aerial attacks and healing abilities. Their Super is the 'Daybreak.'
- Arc (Stormcaller): Channels electrical storms to unleash chain lightning and devastating area-of-effect attacks. Their Super is the 'Stormtrance.'
- Void (Voidwalker): Wields the Void to unleash destructive Nova Bombs and create suppressing fields. Their Super is the 'Nova Bomb.'
Customizing Your Appearance
Once you've chosen your race and class, you'll move on to appearance customization. This includes:
- Gender: Choose between male and female appearances.
- Face: Select from several facial structures, skin tones, and facial features.
- Hair: Choose a hairstyle and hair color.
- Markings: Add scars, tattoos, or other facial markings.
- Eyes: Select eye color and shape.
While appearance customization is purely cosmetic, it allows you to create a Guardian that truly feels like your own. Remember that you can change your appearance later in the game, but your race and class are permanent.
Take your time during character creation. Your Guardian will be your avatar throughout your adventures in Destiny 2, so choose wisely!
