Lost Sectors and Public Events are open-world activities found on every destination. They offer quick bursts of combat, Glimmer, and gear, making them excellent for farming and exploring the environment.
Lost Sectors:
- Hidden Dungeons: Marked by a distinctive symbol on your map, Lost Sectors are small, self-contained dungeons with a boss and a loot chest at the end.
- Rewards: Glimmer, blue and legendary gear, and sometimes Exotic engrams (especially from Legend/Master Lost Sectors).
- Legend/Master Lost Sectors: These are daily rotating, higher difficulty versions that can drop specific Exotic armor pieces when completed solo. They feature Champions and require a high Power Level.
Public Events:
- Timed Events: Appear periodically on the map in various patrol zones.
- Objectives: Range from defending a point, defeating a specific enemy, or escorting a payload.
- Heroic Public Events: Most Public Events have a hidden trigger to activate a 'Heroic' version, which is harder but offers better rewards. Look up guides for specific triggers.
- Rewards: Glimmer, planetary materials, blue and legendary gear, and sometimes Exotic engrams.
Both Lost Sectors and Public Events are great ways to earn experience and gear while exploring the various destinations. Heroic Public Events are particularly efficient for farming planetary materials and Glimmer.
