Evility Management & Unlocking
Evilities are passive abilities that significantly enhance your characters' combat prowess and utility in Disgaea 6. Understanding how to acquire, manage, and optimize them is crucial for tackling the game's increasingly difficult challenges, especially in the post-game.
Types of Evilities
- Unique Evilities: These are character-specific and often define a character's role or playstyle. Each character has one innate Unique Evility, and can equip additional ones.
- Common Evilities: These are generic passive abilities that can be learned and equipped by any character, provided they meet the cost requirements.
Acquiring Evilities
There are several primary methods for unlocking new Evilities:
1. Skill Shop Purchases
The most straightforward way to acquire many Common Evilities is through the Skill Shop. This facility, accessible from the base, allows you to spend Mana to purchase Evilities for your characters. The cost varies depending on the Evility's power and utility.
- Walkthrough:
- Navigate to the base area.
- Locate the Skill Shop NPC (often represented by a Witch or similar magic-user icon).
- Select the character you wish to teach Evilities to.
- Browse the available Common Evilities.
- Select the desired Evility and confirm the purchase using Mana.
- Strategy: Prioritize Evilities that complement your character's stats or unique abilities. For example, a physical attacker might benefit from "Attack Boost" or "Critical Rate Up," while a magic user could go for "Magic Boost" or "SP Saver."
2. Super Reincarnation
Super Reincarnation is a core mechanic in Disgaea 6 for character progression and Evility acquisition. Each time a character Super Reincarnates, they gain access to a selection of new Evilities based on their class and the number of times they've reincarnated.
- Walkthrough:
- Go to the Dark Assembly in the base.
- Select the "Super Reincarnate" option.
- Choose the character you wish to reincarnate.
- During the reincarnation process, you'll be presented with a list of Evilities to unlock. These are often tied to the character's class or previous reincarnation tiers.
- Select the desired Evilities to learn them permanently.
- Strategy: Plan your Super Reincarnations strategically. If you're aiming for a specific build, research which Evilities become available at certain reincarnation counts for your chosen class. Don't be afraid to reincarnate frequently, as the stat bonuses and Evility unlocks are invaluable.
3. Story Progression & Character Unlocks
Many Unique Evilities are intrinsically tied to story events or the recruitment of specific characters. As you progress through the main story, new characters will join your party, bringing their unique Evilities with them.
- Walkthrough: Simply continue playing through the main story chapters. New characters and their associated Unique Evilities will be unlocked automatically as part of the narrative.
- Example: Zed's "Super Reincarnation" Unique Evility is available from the start, defining his core mechanic. Other story characters will join with their own distinct Unique Evilities.
4. DLC Characters
Additional Unique Evilities are often introduced with DLC characters. These characters typically come with powerful and specialized Evilities that can open up new strategic possibilities.
- Walkthrough: Purchase and download the respective DLC. The new characters, along with their Unique Evilities, will become available for recruitment in your base.
Managing Equipped Evilities
Once acquired, Evilities need to be equipped to be active. Each character has a limited number of Evility slots and an Evility Cost (EC) limit.
- Accessing the Evility Menu:
- From the base, select the "Character" option.
- Choose the character whose Evilities you wish to manage.
- Navigate to the "Evilities" tab.
- Equipping Evilities:
- Select an empty Evility slot or an already equipped Evility to replace it.
- Choose from your learned Evilities. Pay attention to the Evility's cost, as it must not exceed the character's total EC.
- Note: Unique Evilities typically have a higher cost but often provide more significant benefits. Common Evilities are generally cheaper, allowing for more flexibility.
- Increasing Evility Slots & EC:
- Super Reincarnation: Each Super Reincarnation grants additional Evility slots and increases a character's maximum Evility Cost. This is a primary reason to repeatedly reincarnate your key units.
- Dark Assembly Bills: Certain bills passed in the Dark Assembly can also increase Evility slots or EC for specific characters or the entire party. Look for bills like "Increase Evility Slots" or "Boost Evility Capacity."
Optimizing Evility Builds
Effective Evility management involves creating synergistic builds that maximize a character's potential. Consider the following:
- Role Specialization: Does your character need to be a damage dealer, a tank, a support unit, or a healer? Equip Evilities that enhance their primary role. For example, a damage dealer might stack "Violence" (increases stats but prevents healing) with "Ambush" (first turn attack boost).
- Team Synergy: Some Evilities provide benefits to adjacent allies or the entire party. Consider how a character's Evilities can support the rest of your squad. "Team Attack Rate Up" or "Defense Aura" are examples of supportive Evilities.
- Situational Evilities: Keep a few specialized Evilities on hand for specific challenges. For instance, "Status Effect Immunity" can be invaluable against enemies that inflict debilitating ailments.
- Post-Game Focus: In the post-game, you'll be aiming for highly optimized builds. Evilities like "Greedy Disposition" (increases stats based on money) or "Mana Scavenger" (increases Mana gain) become essential for rapid progression.
By diligently acquiring new Evilities through Super Reincarnation and the Skill Shop, and carefully managing your equipped Evilities, you can transform your characters into unstoppable forces in the Netherworld!
