Attributes & Their Effects
In Dragon Age: Inquisition, your character's effectiveness in combat and other aspects of gameplay is heavily influenced by their core attributes. These attributes determine your character's raw power, survivability, and utility. Investing points wisely into these attributes during character creation and through leveling up is crucial for building a strong and capable Inquisitor.
The primary attributes are:
- Strength: Primarily affects Warriors, increasing their melee damage and the effectiveness of their abilities. Higher Strength also contributes to weapon and armor penetration.
- Dexterity: Benefits Rogues and Archers, enhancing their ranged damage, critical hit chance, and accuracy. It also influences the effectiveness of certain rogue abilities and evasion.
- Magic: The core attribute for Mages, increasing their spell power, the chance to land spells, and the effectiveness of their magical abilities. It also influences resistance to magical attacks.
- Willpower: Affects all classes by increasing their offensive ability power and the rate at which their stamina or mana regenerates. It's essential for sustained combat performance.
- Constitution: Increases your character's health pool, making them more durable and able to withstand more damage. This is vital for all classes, especially those on the front lines.
- Cunning: Primarily benefits Rogues, increasing their critical hit damage, their ability to disarm traps, and their effectiveness in dialogue-related checks. It also provides a small bonus to all damage types.
Beyond these core attributes, several other factors contribute to your character's overall power:
| Attribute | Primary Benefit | Secondary Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Strength | Melee Damage (Warrior) | Armor Penetration |
| Dexterity | Ranged Damage, Crit Chance (Rogue) | Accuracy, Evasion |

| Willpower | Ability Power, Stamina/Mana Regen | Sustained Combat |
| Constitution | Health Pool | Survivability |
| Cunning | Crit Damage, Trap Disarm (Rogue) | Dialogue Checks, Minor Damage Bonus |
As you level up, you'll receive points to allocate to these attributes. Additionally, gear, enchantments, and certain perks can further boost your attribute scores, allowing for fine-tuned character builds tailored to your preferred playstyle.
