Leveling Up & Stat Allocation
As you progress through Dragon Age: Inquisition, your character and companions will gain experience points, leading to level-ups. Each level-up grants attribute points and ability points, allowing you to customize your character's growth and unlock new skills. Making informed decisions about stat allocation and ability selection is crucial for building an effective combatant tailored to your playstyle. This section guides you through the leveling process and offers advice on optimizing your character's development.
Every time your character or a companion gains a level, you'll have the opportunity to enhance their capabilities. Attribute points increase core stats like Strength, Dexterity, Magic, and Constitution, while ability points are spent in skill trees to learn new active and passive abilities. Understanding how these stats and abilities synergize is key to creating powerful builds. This guide will help you make the most of each level-up, ensuring your party is ready for any challenge Thedas throws at you.
Gaining Experience (XP)
Experience points are awarded for several actions:
- Completing quests (main story, side quests, companion quests).
- Defeating enemies.
- Discovering new locations.
- Completing War Table missions.
- Finding lore objects.
Attribute Points
Upon leveling up, you receive attribute points that can be allocated to increase your character's core stats:
- Strength: Primarily affects Warrior damage and defense.
- Dexterity: Primarily affects Rogue damage and critical hit chance.
- Magic: Primarily affects Mage damage and spell power.
- Constitution: Increases health for all classes.
Note: While you can allocate points freely, it's generally best to focus on the attributes that directly benefit your chosen class.
Ability Points and Skill Trees
Ability points are spent in various skill trees unique to each class and specialization. These trees offer both active abilities (spells, attacks) and passive bonuses.
- Warrior Trees: Vanguard, Strength, Battle শাস্ত্র (Weapon & Shield), Two-Handed, Champion, Templar, Reaver.
- Rogue Trees: Dual-Wielding, Archery, Stealth, Subterfuge, Assassin, Artificer, Tempest.
- Mage Trees: Elemental, Spirit, Storm, Winter, Creation, Knight-Enchanter, Necromancer, Rift Mage.
Respeccing Your Character
If you feel you've made mistakes in your stat allocation or ability choices, you can respec your character. This requires purchasing a 'Periapt of Imperium' from the merchant in Skyhold's Undercroft. Using this item will reset all your attribute and ability points, allowing you to reallocate them.
Recommended Stat Allocation (General Guidelines)
- Warrior: Focus on Strength and Constitution.
- Rogue: Focus on Dexterity and Cunning (if applicable through gear).
- Mage: Focus on Magic and Willpower (if applicable through gear).
Always consider the specific abilities you wish to unlock and the gear you intend to use when allocating points.
