The Hinterlands

Your first major open-world zone is surprisingly rich in hidden treasures. While many are straightforward, some require a keen eye or a bit of exploration off the beaten path.

  • Shards: There are 13 Shards scattered throughout the Hinterlands.
    • Southern Hinterlands: Look for three Shards near the Crossroads, often requiring you to climb small hills or investigate ruins. One is particularly well-hidden behind a crumbling wall near the river south of the Redcliffe Farms.
    • Central Hinterlands: Four Shards are found around the Upper Lake Camp and the farms. Use your "Search" ability frequently, especially near stone structures and abandoned carts.
    • Northern Hinterlands: The remaining six Shards are primarily located in the northern reaches, particularly around the Dusklight Camp and the area leading towards the Witchwood. One notorious Shard is perched on a precarious ledge overlooking the valley, requiring a careful jump or a path found by circling around.
  • Bottles of Thedas: Two Bottles can be found here.
