DLC Collectibles

Beyond the main campaign, Dragon Age: Inquisition's downloadable content packs introduce new regions, quests, and, of course, a fresh array of collectibles to discover. These often tie into unique lore, grant valuable schematics, or unlock new War Table operations. This section will guide you through locating every significant collectible within the major story DLCs: Jaws of Hakkon, The Descent, and Trespasser.

Jaws of Hakkon Collectibles

The Frostback Basin, introduced in Jaws of Hakkon, is a vast and ancient land teeming with secrets. Your primary collectible hunts here will revolve around uncovering the history of the Avvar and the ancient Inquisitor Ameridan.

Ameridan's Lost Journals

Scattered throughout the Frostback Basin are fragments of Inquisitor Ameridan's journals. Collecting all of them provides deep insight into his life and the events leading up to the creation of the Inquisition. There are 10 Journal Entries in total.

  • Journal Entry 1: Found near the first campsite you establish, just south of the Stone-Bear Hold entrance. Look for a small, ruined structure.
  • Journal Entry 2: Located within the Old Temple area. After entering the temple, stick to the right path; it's on a small altar.
  • Journal Entry 3: In the Swamp area, near the edge of the water, close to a group of Felandaris plants.
  • Journal Entry 4: High up on the cliffs overlooking the Stone-Bear Hold. Requires some careful platforming or finding a hidden path.
  • Journal Entry 5: Inside the Shrine of Sifnar, on a pedestal. You'll visit this location during the main questline.
  • Journal Entry 6: Near the Forgotten Cave entrance, tucked away behind some rocks.
  • Journal Entry 7: In the northern part of the basin, close to the entrance of the Hakkon's Breath area.
  • Journal Entry 8: Within the Jaws of Hakkon main quest dungeon, after defeating a specific boss. It's usually in the same room.
  • Journal Entry 9: On a small island in the central lake of the Frostback Basin. You'll need to find a way to cross.
  • Journal Entry 10: The final entry is often found in the same area as the final boss of the DLC, usually on a table or altar nearby.

Avvar Artifacts

These unique items are tied to the Avvar culture and often reveal more about their traditions and beliefs. There are 6 Avvar Artifacts to find, each unlocking a codex entry.

  • Avvar Totem: Found in the southern part of the basin, near a small Avvar camp that has been overrun by beasts.
  • Ancient Avvar Axe: Located within the Old Temple, in a side chamber accessible after solving a minor puzzle.
  • Avvar War Horn: High on a ridge overlooking the Swamp area. Requires climbing or finding a winding path.
  • Spirit-Bound Doll: Inside a hidden cave entrance near the Shrine of Sifnar. Look for a crack in the rock face.
  • Carved Mammoth Tusk: In the far western reaches of the Frostback Basin, near a frozen waterfall.
  • Avvar Shaman's Staff: Found in the Hakkon's Breath caves, often guarded by a strong enemy.

The Descent Collectibles

The Descent takes you deep into the uncharted Deep Roads, a perilous journey filled with Darkspawn, ancient dwarven ruins, and the mysterious Sha-Brytol. The primary collectibles here are tied to dwarven history and the expedition itself.

Ancient Dwarven Gears

These intricate gears are crucial for repairing ancient dwarven mechanisms and progressing through certain areas. There are 10 Ancient Dwarven Gears in total, often found in chests or on fallen dwarven automatons.

  • Gear 1 & 2: Found early in the Deep Roads Expedition area, often in the first few chambers you explore. One is usually in a chest, the other on a defeated automaton.
  • Gear 3: In the Bastion of the Pure, look for a collapsed section of wall that can be cleared by a Warrior.
  • Gear 4 & 5: Within the Titan's Wake area, one is often on a ledge accessible via a jump puzzle, the other near a group of Darkspawn.
  • Gear 6: In the Darkspawn Warrens, a side path often leads to a small chamber containing a gear.
  • Gear 7 & 8: Within the Wellspring of the Deep, one is usually near a waterfall, the other in a hidden alcove.
  • Gear 9: After a significant encounter with a Sha-Brytol group, search the surrounding area thoroughly.
  • Gear 10: The final gear is typically found just before the final boss encounter, often in a prominent chest.

Expedition Journal Entries

These journals detail the ill-fated expedition that preceded yours, offering grim insights into the Deep Roads and the fate of its members. There are 8 Expedition Journal Entries.

  • Entry 1: Near the entrance of the Deep Roads Expedition, on a fallen soldier.
  • Entry 2: In the Bastion of the Pure, on a table in a ruined barracks.
  • Entry 3: Within the Titan's Wake, near a collapsed bridge.
  • Entry 4: In the Darkspawn Warrens, on a corpse partially buried in rubble.
  • Entry 5: Near a camp established by the previous expedition, often with a campfire still smoldering.
  • Entry 6: In the Wellspring of the Deep, on a small, elevated platform.
  • Entry 7: After a major Sha-Brytol encounter, search the area for a fallen member of the expedition.
  • Entry 8: The final entry is usually found in the immediate vicinity of the final boss, detailing their last moments.

Trespasser Collectibles

Trespasser serves as the epilogue to Dragon Age: Inquisition, taking place two years after the main story. Collectibles here are often tied to the Qunari invasion and the secrets of the ancient Elvhen.

Elven Glyphs

These ancient Elvhen markings reveal fragments of lore about the Evanuris and the fall of Arlathan. There are 7 Elven Glyphs to find, each unlocking a codex entry.

  • Glyph 1: In the Winter Palace, near the initial meeting area, on a wall.
  • Glyph 2: Within the Serault Coast, near a ruined elven archway.
  • Glyph 3: In the Vyrantium area, on a wall within a partially collapsed elven structure.
  • Glyph 4: High up on a cliff face in the Serault Coast, requiring some careful pathfinding.
  • Glyph 5: Inside the Elven Ruins, often in a hidden chamber or behind a destructible wall.
  • Glyph 6: In the final major area of the DLC, often near a significant lore point or puzzle.
  • Glyph 7: The last glyph is usually found in the immediate vicinity of the final encounter, providing crucial context.

Qunari Intel

These documents and items provide insight into the Qunari's plans and their presence in Orlais. There are 5 Qunari Intel items, often found on defeated Qunari soldiers or in their camps.

  • Intel 1: On a defeated Qunari patrol in the Winter Palace gardens.
  • Intel 2: Within a small Qunari encampment in the Serault Coast.
  • Intel 3: On a Qunari officer in the Vyrantium area.
  • Intel 4: A map found in a hidden Qunari supply cache, often requiring a search action.
  • Intel 5: The final piece of intel is usually found in the main Qunari stronghold or on a high-ranking officer.
